i have my one paying here mother 60 a week and when the gas and electric bill come in she pays 40 of each of them as she could been in a shower for over 20 mins at a time and drying here things on the heaters all the time , she has moved out 2 times now first time it was costing her 550 a mth + food bill and split the cost of the gas and electric bill and and the moved back (~~~~ing muppet for letting her back) then she moved in with her boy friand that was costing her 750 a mth all in but had to pay food bill think that lasted 7 mths ans she moved back again ( yes bigger ~~~~ing muppet i know ) i know the next time she goes she wont be ~~~~ing back she will do ~~~~ all around the house has her mother running around doing everything her her wont get out of bed till 1-2 in the day and then comes the weekend she will get so hammered that it makes my sick looking at her

I feel for you mate ... My stepdaughter has gone the Doctors today with pains in her stomach ... The Doctor has told her she has a swollen stomach being a direct cause of excessive drinking ! He has given her some pills to take in water, and she has said that no drinking for her until we go Ibiza for a family holiday... Stupid, stupid girl !!

I bet the 30 quid would not even cover the water, leccy, or gas nevemind the food and rent as well.

?25-?30 for me covers my food. Rent is at ?70.28 all inclusive atm, though will be ?68 + bills, so around ?5-?10 extra, so around ?78 all inclusive - that should include internet bills as well

That's around ?312/month or ?3432 for the length of the contract (roughly), but should be no more than ?3600. Around ?1100-?1320 for food, so around 4.5-4.7K for living costs + rent for me, over the length of the contract

EDIT: That's the cost of rent in living in one good sized room, in a detached house, in the midlands, if you want to weigh how up how much it costs

I am wishing to get a job, but hopefully after May. I've noticed that the students that have jobs whilst at uni tend to suffer with their uni work, though some make it work

I was looking for work between September and December, but come January the work load became a lot more, and the work load is meant to get worse the next year and the year after that

Most students I know don't have jobs, unless if they might want to look for work in the holidays and that's about it. It's not like I don't want a job. It's just atm, it's work on top of work. I mean I was actively looking between September and December and I'll now actively look again

Besides, it's possible that I might only be able to get a volunteer job over the summer due to the nature of IT jobs ie: you get the contacts by going to the correct organisations, correct uni's (differs depending on what you want to go in to), meet the correct people, get the correct qualifications etc...

And even with students that do have a job, they still tend to get support from parents. Also, how are you to know what course I'm doing? On some courses, working is actively discouraged because it can really, really mess with your education

Um, I just have to revise atm, and I take breaks every now and again. Otherwise I just get headaches. So around 4 hours revising, with perhaps 30 minutes light comedy to get my brain working, or answering questions on a forum

Y'know when my Mum gave me this money, I didn't want to accept it but then she said "Give it to your sister when she goes to uni" which seems very fair

So in a sense, I have the money in my bank, which I do not touch, which will then be passed down on to my sister. What exactly is wrong with that?

Besides, I'll also be giving a percentage of my wage to my parents once I'm out of uni, provided of course I have a job. What's wrong with that?
