My favourite is coley or mackerel , chips + peas , super tasty fish and 1/3 of the price of cod .
    Got a fish supper last week , 3 fish , 2 bags of chips , curry + peas , ?13.75 (cod ?3.25 each) , not a cheap meal anymore !
buy a fishing rod .i catch plenty of coalies, mackarell, pollock flounder.and the rest it saves me a fortune.mind you you do need a freezer.

personally i think a lot of chipies rob us with our fish and chips and i believe that most unless it states cod and chips is actually pollock

after all most chippies will only state fish and chips not the actual fish it is and pollock is hardly any different at all to cod

                aaah you think so gmb

if you buy fish in a supermarket whether it be fish fingers, fish pie, fish steaks or battered fish it is always when you look at the ingredients mixed white fish not cod or haddock

only fish clearly labelled cod fillet or cod steak is actually cod

so logically it will be the same at your local chippy if it says fish and chips as oppose to cod and chips you will be very likely getting mugged

or am i really talking pollocks

find a pier and fish of that, southport has a nice pier but you cant see the sea it may be better if it was made longer or did the sea get pinched

@aftermath,,, @ not need permits in scotland...

Course we need permits up here,, just differnet assosiations and run differnetly,

Trout is brilliant btw, agreed there,
Up in scotland we also tend to get served Hadock rather than cod,, ( although not so much in the bigger cities)
You wouldnt need a permit at a fishery!, just pay your monies for the day and/or the fish.

Thats the lazy way,,, take a day off and get into a real river,
nothing quite as brilliant as a days relaxing fishing.

i enjoy the pike fishing more,, though these arent really for eating,, ( unless your polish! )
                              boom!

I might be getting mixed up with river fishing for salmon ?

do you need permit for that in Scotland ?

Ive only ever been sea fishing in Scotland so never bothered with a permit , only until i started course fishing 3 years ago, when i bought the yearly license
