I have the exact same problem.
Local people need help, I always reply to every urgent email and they NEVER reply to ANY of mine.

So I don't know if:
-their pc is blown
-people is death
-my email is incorrectly in their spam folder
-my email never reached their box even if mine was: message sent successfouly
-my reply erase completely their own vocabulary so they can't write anymore.
-I just want a 13 years old kind of reply: k for ok and n for no. Sic et simpliciter.

A k mean:
pc is running, people is alive, my email is in their inbox folder, so message was really sent successfouly ,
they can still write, also they are happy with my answer.

A n mean:
