Can i be a cheeky monkey and ask if anyone knows how to slow down the eletric meter, only for educational purposes, i disagree with fiddling or stealing from certain companies.

You know, i swear i even laughed myself,. Im just so sick of paying high electric bills for a house that i only use 1 room in and only have 1 friggin touch lamp on. I have chaned from n-power to southern electric, so im hoping that will help a little, in the long run anywayz

drill a small hole about 1mm just below the wheel on the side of the meter then put a kneedle with a fishing wieght attached on a piece of cotton then put the kneedle in the hole so the wieght pulls the kneedle down stopping the wheel from going round

when the meter reader comes round you then put the pin in leave it for 2 months then for the last month take it out this shows you have used some elecky but you bill is cut by a third

When i was doing up my house(i didnt live there), i hardly used any electric. The power company, came out and changed my meter, i guess they think i was fiddling it, but i wasnt.I like most am finding it really hard to keep up paying for electric, even though i only have a tv, 1 small fridge and a pc with an lcd monitor. What if i had drilled a hole and then the electric come out and take that meter for inspection.Isnt there a way to slow the bloody thing down without actually harming the meter itself ?

portbhouy suggested a strong magnet should work in theory this will not physically harm your meter

im thinking more along the lines of bypassing it altogether for a month or two

might need some big rubber boots and gloves

Just my 2p worth. Most or all utility, financial and continous payment companies operate statistical analysis on individual accounts. This means if your account undergoes an uncharacteristic change it will be red flagged. Obviously gas/electric use is expected to fall winter to summer so if u come across a valid workaround 1. Implement it gradually and 2. do so in the spring months.
Discipline always applies and remember you have to be on the ball ALL the time where as 'the man' only needs to catch u once.

The Reds gas meter reversing trick didn't work for me , i tried it on the meter i had 15yrs ago , when i was made redundant , and all it did was stop the gas flow , a mate told me there was a one way valve inside it , worth a try with your own meter if you're struggling though .
As for the elecy meter , a nappy pin in the side worked a treat for 18 months , until i got another job and back on my feet.
Drill a tiny hole (in the blind side) of the meter , just below the wheel ,and use a bent baby's nappy pin to stop it for six weeks or so , to bring the bill down to somewhere near what it should be (robbing B*stards).
A few mates have recently been made redundant , but now have the new digital meters and don't know how to get around them , any idea's people ?
