No they cannot. They are a set of rules that have been developed over time as a reasonably successful method of expression.
you are wrong. so let's go deeper.
Pitagors theory, have you heard about it?
we have a triangle with a 90 decrees corner with lines 3 cm and 4 cm.
what pitagors theory says: 4^2+3^2=x^2, where x is the third line. are you saying that pitagor made a rule out of nowhere and now we are using it with a pointless reason?? no m8, he proved his theory, and sorry, with my knowledge of english i can't describe this theory fully as i understand it...

He applied the rules as he knew them that is all and that is one (amongst millions) of the reasons they are such a successful set of rules.
a?rith?me?tic
(1) the branch of mathematics that deals with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division,
(2) the use of numbers in calculations
math?e?mat?ics
(1) the study of the relationships among numbers, shapes, and quantities,
(2) it uses signs, symbols, and proofs and includes arithmetic, algebra, calculus, geometry, and trigonometry.

~~~~ me I got the first one wrong & called a dumbass then you pose me with this shite!!
Is he the fella who said the angle of ya dangle is equal to the way your standin ?
THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white.The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.
Euclidean geometry was one of the driving forces behind this set of rules, that is what allowed Pythagoras to develop such a simple relationship for the perpendicular triangle.
No he said, the angle of the dangle is directly proportionate to the lust of the thrust. Its all gravy
Baby gravy ?
i have no other explanaition for you. maybe for you, who are not really good at maths, it seems like just a simple rule, you just know the rule and you go on with it.
but it's not just a rule, others understand the rule, and understand the way the rule was found or made.
and it's not good to say that Pythagoras to develop such a simple relationship for the perpendicular triangle. He found this relationship. That thiangle allways had that relationship, but since he found it, it's just may be a rule for you, and i'm sorry for my english since it's not my main language
OK. I give up but before I do I should tell you that I have taught this stuff at university level to degree students. I have a PhD and I do know what I am talking about. When you get a bit older and understand the numbers that you think you understand then you will see that what I have said is correct but until that time you can get by and go forward believing that there is logical reason behind it.
maybe just me but i think our basic maths in the uk for primary school kids maybe a little different to how its taught abroad
which may be where the crossed wires are
either that or i dont remember it properly because im pretty sure i didnt learn about brackets bodmas ect till i was about 15 and maths followed a left to right principal in juniors
