I mentioned this last week in lanie thread, mine gone from ?470 to ?1.115, more than double, I'm now wishing I'd put a claim in for a new bumper last year,
there fools to themselves, most people don't always claim because there worried about there premiums going up,
I'll be claiming anything I can from now on, it makes a mockery of no claims discount

Ok, that makes more sense. But they'll still have problems in a small detail with the tax.

As it is you can only get a refund on tax if you have 2 full months or more remaining. So, lets look at a possible situation....

Old car that needs some repairs for it's MOT that's due in a few weeks. The insurance is due now but the tax doesn't run out for 6 weeks.
The car comes off the road for repairs that will take a month due to money being tight. Insurance is not renewed as car on the drive, but the tax cannot be refunded & will still be valid when the car is repaired MOT'd & insured.

What's the time frame on this new power? If you don't tax a vehicle or declare SORN within about 7 weeks you get an automatic fine through the door.

To my knowledge, which does have gaps, you can't suspend vehicle tax. Only refund or lose it if under 2 months left.

Like Cliff Richard will be pissed off - going on a summer holliday - no more insurance for a week or two.

If the car has failed mot or broke down, say a 1980 DeLoren DMC12 - needs new Flux Capacitor, they are always on back order.

Well how sabout you hear about my car insurance story !

I'm a 20 year old male, had the same car for 3 years now which is a vauxhall corsa 1.2 sxi 52 reg. here is my insirance prices from the years driving. The car was registered and insured in my name with mum and dad as second and third drivers.

            1st year - ?2500 (after pass pluss)
            2nd year - ?1800
            3rd year - ?1200
            4th year - ?850 (driving now in 2011)

i have full 3 years no claims and i'm still paying over ?800 on insurance.

So i think you should all feel sorry for me and stop your complaining haha.

Yeah it is cheaper if you put your wife/Gf on insurance don't know why but it is. I have my wife as named driver even on my van which she would never drive. Few years ago I've been told by insurance that having your wife as named driver will bring down insurance price. I tested it last couple of years running and premiums where lower.

Not bad for a 20 year old in a corsa. Most of the 20 year olds who i have known in the past 5 years who owned corsas or saxos are now 6ft under.

this might be of interest, not sure what the crack is but, the son of a friend of mine has just passed his test, now he his taking some more lessons that is called pass + which you do so many hours of driving on motorways etc, i was told it costs about ?137 but this gets you 50% off car insurance for new drivers, worth looking into.

No claim bonus does not mean any thing on book any more as I am paying ?900 for 20 years no claims and my friend only just passed his test last year paying ?1212.00 and only one year no claim bonus, when I rang them same old stories the cost going up, bla, bla, they are in control and we must have cheaper insurance companies to help the good drivers on our road.

just out of interest does anybody know how the law stands with cancelling a recent policy ? i have just renewed my policy but due to the excessive premium i am now 3rd party with absolutely no xtras on the policy like windscreen cover, legal cover, breakdown ,courtesy car etc etc etc
reason im asking is that maybe after reading the last few posts if i were to put the other half on the policy i could go fully comp and greatly reduce the premium
wasnt happy going 3rd party but i wasnt prepared to give those robbing koonts my money
on another note a fella i work with, his son whos well dodgy and is up to all sorts, has in the last few years had 3 different cars written off professionally and has claimed for everyone plus injurys to people who werent even in the car,,im not sure exactly how its done,i think it involves taking the car to a farm and then driving it into something or something into it and then his mate who works/owns insurance company looks after the rest
i was told after my first renewal estimate this year that this was a major factor for premiums rising(fraudulent claims) and thats one person i know thats probably claimed around 40k in the last 2 years alone,,how many more are at it ?
