To be fair I think the community workers etc should be openly condemning the rioting... But lets all be honest here, the Police and the MET have been proved to be racist before and if you don't believe there is still a racist element in the Police you are pretty nieve.
Now I'm not saying that it was a racist killing or anything like that, but to kill the guy on Thurs and not to speak to the family about why, where, how or at least to give an apology is shite and indeed is asking for trouble in area where there is racial tension with the Police.Comment

But all the community workers etc blame the police. of course theres racist elements in the police just like EVERYWHERE but racism isnt just white on black. The police are also agest , sexist etc etc. Just because the police stop black kids in black areas does not make them racist - lets face it if an area is predominantly populated by black people then the majority of crime is going to be commited by mainly black youths so therefor they are the ones that are going to get stopped by police or should the police not stop suspicious looking youths with hoods up and scarves over their faces incase they are called racist?
Anyway its nothing to do with race its to do with robbing shops.
As for the police giving explination to the family well surely they would need to work out themselves what happened before doing so. Also why would they need to apologise ?
The PEACEFUL protest ended as soon as the dodgy gits started looting shops etc so all this rioting has nothing to do with the bloke getting shotComment

FaceBook group "Supporting the Met Police against the London Rioters" is growing by up to 1000 members per minute... currently running at 124,000. The Police have the support of MANY people.Comment

Mate they should have given some explanation for shooting someone dead for ~~~~ sake. They are the Police aren't they? Not just left the family to guess. Anyways now it's a different animal. The vast majority now seem to rioting for the sake of it, it's taken on a whole new different meaning and the people I really feel for is the folk who have lost homes and livelihoods.
I said at the time of the student riots that this could be the start of many scenes of civil disobedience.. It seems to be happening?Comment

but they did make announcements to the press confirming there had been a shooting and thats what had promted the original protest as the family had not been given an explination just hours later. Surely there would need to be debeiefs etc before family etc could be told. Obviously they should explain what happened but not instantly.Mate they should have given some explanation for shooting someone dead for ~~~~ sake. They are the Police aren't they? The latest statement from the Metropolitan police:
"Statement from Temporary Commissioner Tim Godwin:
Firstly, can I say thank you for allowing me to make this statement.
We have to report, from what you can see in the media coverage, that there is a significant disorder breaking out in number of our communities across London.
As a result of that we have a lot of police officers on duty but I do urge parents to start contacting their children and ask where they are.
There are far too many spectators who are getting in the way of the police operations to tackle criminal thuggery and burglary.
I***8217;m imploring that people start clearing the streets to enable officers to deal with the criminality that is occurring in front of them.
I understand grievances and there has been various debates about what the issues are that are making people commit these acts but what I have seen is pure violence and pure ~~~~~~~y.
It is criminal damage and it is burglary. Myself and my officers will pursue all those engaged in criminality. We will put them in front of the courts and we will be asking the courts to send down significant sentences in relations to this form of activity.
There are many of thousands of young people in London who do not commit crime. We are seeing communities blighted by the actions of a few. I do ask people clear the way and allow us to arrest people.
We are going to be publishing lots of images of people who we have evidence of at this time in terms of criminal behaviour from CCTV and other footage.
I would ask Londoners once again, and normally Londoners do stand up together, to identify those people so we can arrest them.
Grievances, concerns and challenges in communities are things we should be talking about and are conversations we need to have.
It does not in anyway excuse the levels of violence and levels of damage. I can reassure Londoners that we have a lot of police officers out there.
We remain steadfast and determined. I have a lot of very brave officer who will continue to police this city. Just give us the space now to deal with these people."
