I dont think any sort of music can be put to blame. The same way video games have been used as a excuse for murder in the past.

They are not living such a terrible life when they can afford to have brand name clothing on there back or carry the latest mobiles. They clearly have parents that give them what they want and most likely its easier to buy them this and that than give them attention and create a respectable, loving family at home.

Ok some of them may not have a father figure but it is still no excuse.

As someone else mentioned its by time our nation as a whole stops making excuses for these people that are turning our nation in to a nightmare and to start tackling the issues and slam down hard punishments the ones that want to treat here like a joke.

And it is by time that the benefit system is changed, fair enough if some guy is out hunting day in day out for a job and can prove that then there should be a certain level of help or if someone has an actual disability. These people that get these benefits year after year should be put to work for that money, there is plenty of work out there needing done so make them do it for there current benefit and if there not happy with it then maybe it will give them the push to go out and get a better paid job, if they dont do it there money should be stopped. I do not understand for instance someone claiming work benefit for years, sorry but it does not take years to find a job.

we can go on and on forever about who is to blame.

yes these kids are running around in designer gear but you have to question where they got it from in the first place.

there are thousands of people out there to help these young people get on the right track and gain employment but the simple fact is these young people DONT WANT to work or learn.

my boyfriend works for an organisation that tries to teach 16 to 18 yr olds life skills, interview skills etc. i dont know how he does it as the mental abuse he gets is horrific at times. these are kids that no other organisation will take or who have been chucked out of school. most are illiterate.

he tells them he grew up in drumchapel with 2 sisters and a brother - nearly all to diff dads. all of them were in care at somepoint in their lives mostly for 4 yrs or so as his mother is a self centred lazy biatch. she has never worked a day in her life.. she never cooked or cleaned even though she didnt work.

she eventually got the kids back - unfortunately in my own opinion. my boyfriend is the only one in his family with a half decent job, has a car and a mortgage and never been in bother with the police. althought we are not far from drumchapel we are in a much much nicer area.

none of his siblings are married and all have children (again to more than one father). most dont work and their appearance horrifies me (missing or rotting teeth, and they look manky etc). i wont even visit his mothers flat in maryhill as its a fleapit - inside and out. some are getting a bloody fortune in benefits (nearly as much as my wage). i used to get all their kids xmas and birthday presents but since they didnt get my step daughter one this year things will change. they are nothing but leeches and he knows how i feel.

so all brought up by the same mother (so it aint the genes) yet my other half WANTED to do better. he got into drugs at 16 and by his own admission wasnt a nice person. thank god he did something about it but you have to WANT a better life for youself. unf these rioting kids are happy doing what they are doing.

No point looking for answers who is to blame.
Excuses yes,end of the day no one told these thugs to go out and loot and riot they did it off their own back.
Its all about respect and dignity and they have none.
I hope all of them at some stage have some of their own medicine and feel the pain they have caused to others.

linky please. I can't seem to get onto their forum

EDIT: Their website makes this statement:

Already EDL supporters have taken to the streets to help defend their communities and prepare for the clean-up operations that must follow the last few days of rioting of looting.

We already have members organising themselves in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Norwich and Birmingham, and are also looking to organise efforts in Bristol, Leeds, Wolverhampton, Salford, Nottingham, Leicester and Hull.

If you live near to any of these areas, please contact your Division Leaders and Regional Organisers to find out what you can do to help, or speak to members on our forums or the official EDL Facebook page.

We are hoping to safeguard local businesses through a strong physical presence, and discourage trouble-makers from gathering in our town and city centres. No one should need reminding that the EDL condemn the use of violence: we need to stand with our communities, not do them a disservice like the rioters and looters continue to do.

The EDL, and all decent people, be they black, white, Christian, Sikh, Jewish or Muslim, are sickened by this mindless, selfish and ultimately self-defeating behaviour. We believe that it is our duty to stand united against to those who would seek to divide our communities.

This is not about Islam, it is a different form of radicalism. But if we truly believe that England is a place worth defending ***8211; and I***8217;m sure we all do ***8211; then we cannot stand idly by.

                  Thank you.

Watch the colour of those being filmed changing. My mate who works for the press has been told to concentrate on whites to try to get a balance on who is in the majority when it comes to looting to prevent a racial element coming into play.

Hats off to the Sihks, Turks, Asian and other nationalites who have adopted this country and have protected their communities.

I was watching BBC news on Monday night, and they had a report from an Irish producer who works for the bbc on the phone. He was chatting away, when he mentioned that he noticed that the gangs seemed to be predominantly young black men. He was promptly taken off air and the presenter moved on to another discussion.
Blatantly obvious that the BBC did not want to bring any sort of racial element into an already troubling situation

I would be surprised if many Indian or Chinese youths are amongst the rioters because both are strict with there children they have to study a lot get extra home lessons, and have to help at home, that is why most Indian and Chinese are very successful

Did you not see the riots of the 80's then???????

Some of the stuff on this thread is amazing.. "It's the fault of immigration! (again!!)", "Shoot em!", "Send them to Afghanistan!" "The Rules of Engagment should be changed, so Police/Army can shoot first!"

As far as I know none of us on here are excusing the rioters behaviour, but there has been some opinions of possible reasons for what they are doing. Listen to them guys. What has England/UK learnt from the riots of the 80's and 'Changing the rules of engagement' from the 70's.

These kids involved (and most seem to be kids) are not all them same. The theives and trouble makers have always been in society and always will be. It's the others - the majority of the kids that have gone along because they think it's clever/a buzz/a laugh/or something to do. That's what society should be concerned about, that's who the government should be trying to educate. Closing down youth centres, closing down youth offending departments in local gov', sure start centres closing, youth workers being made redundant. All in a deep recession. The government have a lot to answer for.

Now we all can say, "We was poor when I was a kid, but I didn't riot." That maybe true but parenting and society is different now. Kids are growing up quicker, parents are younger (still kids), weapons are easy to come by, violence is easily accessible on tv, net and so on. There aint no easy answer. Educate and disciplining the kids (and the parents) - Yes, but shooting the kids??? What???
