Foul-mouthed student thrown off train by passenger says HE'S the victim

The 'fare-dodging' student who was manhandled off a train by a fellow passenger has defended his actions and claimed he was the victim in a video which has become a YouTube hit.

Footage of the teenage troublemaker being thrown off a train by a fed-up fellow traveller on the ScotRail service between Edinburgh and Perth has become a viral hit after being uploaded to You Tube.

It begins when a conductor is told the teenager doesn't have a ticket and tells the driver of the train to stop until the youngster gets off.

When the youth refuses a shouting match ensues until a passenger, later referred to as 'the big man' leaps to his feet and frogmarches him off the train - and keeps pushing him off when he repeatedly tries to re-board the service.

A two-and-a-half minute video clip - ?Scotrail No Ticket? - was posted three days ago and has already been viewed almost 200,000 times.

But the 19-year-old student, from Falkirk, has since insisted he was in the right after being tracked down at his home by a local newspaper.

He said last night: 'I had been out celebrating after an exam and I was half asleep on the train.

?I did have a ticket but I must have handed over the wrong one to the conductor. The next thing I know this big guy is manhandling me to the door and throwing me off.

University student Sam Main, who is studying surveying, added: ?I couldn?t believe it when the footage turned up on YouTube.'

He said he still has cuts and bruises over his cheeks (pictured above) and legs.

In the clip, the white-haired ScotRail worker tells the youth: 'I?ll sit here all night pal. I?m getting paid for this but they (the passengers) will start moaning.'
Is there a problem? After the conductor has been remonstrating with the teenager, the 'big man' stands up and approaches the conductor

Personally speaking i think the big man should stick his nose elsewhere, i mean after all he didnt even check the ticket for himself to see if the conducter was right or not. These matters are best left to the police.

The only problem I see with this is...when he throw the kid off...............the train wasn't moving.

          It was a joke ffs.

When I 1st seen it I thought the big man was a bit too quick on the move and a bit rough...it really wasn't his buisness to throw the kid off...but he probably wanted to get home, not really a great excuse, he should have just left it to train authorities or Police. The kid was alledgedly dodging a fare...whoopie fekkin do, he wasn't assaulting anyone.

I dodged a few train fares myself back in the day...

Thats a very good point chelsea how would any parent feel about their teenage son/daughter having this happen to them. The conductor should have let the journey continue and have the driver radio ahead for the young man to be met with the transport police, where he could explain his actions. Surely the conducter has no right to let the public become involved in this matter his actions goaded the big man into action. In my book this conducter should face disciplinary action.

For the fare dodging I'm siding with the people who pay their ticket and who have their prices hiked up because some people think they're somehow special. Be outraged all you like but until trains are made "free" (which would be using the taxpayers' money) then we all have to pay.

                But

The "big man" looks like fat thug, probably on his 8th can of Tennents Superlager and on his way home to knock the **** out of his wife. What a hero!

Seriously though... whilst I agree that the fare-dodger should probably just have conceeded that he'd been caught and got off the train, I can't congratulate a flabby knuckled-headed c*** for throwing his weight around with someone less than half his size. It's not impressive, it's pathetic. If it had been an angry, muscled, tattoo'd hard man sitting there refusing to pay his fare, would the "big man" have gotten out of his seat? No, he'd have sat there and casually pissed his pants. He also rags the guy past a family with young children, throwing him to the floor, chucking him out the door... if the "big man" had done that when I was sat there with my daughter, I'd have booted his arse off the train. There's no need for it.

I'm absolutely disgusted with that !

I don't want one of my kids thrown off a train miles from home or nowhere.I certainly don't want them manhandled like that by a total stranger, and then cheered for doing so !

Big man(Big ~~~~ing coward if you ask me.Try that with a guy the same size as him) should be tracked down like the young guy was, reported, and charged with assault.I'm sure if you got the right solicitor, with a little touch of creativity, you could press for abandonment(proper phraseology ?) charges too,as he chucked the kid off the train.

Next, that idiot conductor.Suspend him, until someone makes a ruling whether he actually fulfilled his duties(And that includes duty of care towards passengers, whether they paid the correct fare or not).He allowed the situation to escalate beyond his control. He's just as guilty.

This is something,I'm sure that the rail company has to deal with everyday,ie fare dodgers. You just don't handle it like that.
Aaahh ! I love the smell of Eeprom in the morning...

" We'll come in low out of the rising sun, and about a mile out, we'll put on the music . . . "

if the kid was in the right why didnt he go to the cops and report the assault, why did a reporter have to track him down?

don't think anyone saying kid was in the right (he may or may not had the rite ticket) but he was rite to say he will sit there and wait for it to be sorted out !

he didn't deserve to get assaulted,
in a way that made him look like he was just caught raping a 9 year old girl

and the young kids on the train didnt deserve to have violence shoved in the faces

its not easy to report crimes (have you tryed lately?
most crimes go UN recorded (and the gov like it this way)

rhe ticket inspector will get the sack for insiting this

yeah was a bit heavy handed alright. i still have no pity for him.
ive no problem with him not paying, best of luck to him, but when your caught, your caught. put your hands up, show a bit of respect for your elders and say fair cop.

Just seen the guy who filmed it on the BBC news. Looks like the student was a complete tit. There was loads more not shown on the clip and even the guy filming it said he was about to throw him off himself. The student had been abusive for over 5 minutes before the filming started.
