only commenting on what a crock of shite it all is mate thats all ................merely sensationalised bull IMHO
and if the taxi drivers and bus drivers don't like the job then why d ya bother ?
are ya wanting some brownie points for being a martyr ? poor taxi drivers indeed
....there is a huge divide between being thick skinned and brass necked imho
the conductor here needs the thick skin
taxi drivers fall into the other category
Why do we bother well its our job and i happen to like my job.Yes i do get verbally abused sometimes but i get used to it as do all the other workers who have to deal with verbal abuse and sometimes even violence. People such as nurses and those who deal with adults and childeren with special needs. Thank god they dont just walk away.Comment

At the end of the day, the "Ticket Collector" is a guard, trained to provide protection to fare paying passengers.
The student in question, didn't want to be a fare paying passenger, the guard has a hard job as it is without a chav playing off as he did.
If the chav had paid for a valid ticket, we wouldn't even be talking about this, would we?

Investigations reveal student was sold wrong ticket | Herald Scotland
So the guy was given the wrong ticket and get forgot to check them - I've purchased a ticket without checking it before.
It is amazing that people believe that an appropriate punishment for not checking a rail ticket is to be turfed off the train and have ABH inflicted upon oneself.Last edited by aleister crowley; 29 December, 2011, 01:58.Comment

It should be interesting what the outcome of this investigation is. The title says he was sold the wrong ticket yet the story says "it was confirmed that the student claims he bought 2 tickets". Claiming to buy and buying are 2 different things in my books.Last edited by Snowy79; 29 December, 2011, 16:47.Comment

The big guy wasn't a "have a go hero", he was just a pizzed off punter who wanted to get home, this is no difference from road rage,
I read far to often of "have a go hero's" coming away with a fatal knife wound, and the perpetrators will get sent down for 4 years for manslaughter
too many idiots carry knives these days, is it worth taking the risk for the price of a train ticket,
I wouldn't have got involved in this incident, and I am trained and licensed (by the home office) to use control and restraint techniques, the same as MP's and the prison service.
and I've got to say the big fella went beyond minimal force, if I treated a violent/threatening patient the same way I would have got arrested,
surely the train guard would have had a way of contacting the transport police, so why didn't he.!retupmoc eht ni deppart m'I !pleHComment

Maybe the student got off lightly. I know a few people that would have beaten seven shades out of him if he'd held them up.
The whole thing was handled poorly. The student should have remained polite. He could have offered to buy another ticket as he had the money and sorted out the problem when he reached his destination. The big lad could have just asked the student to leave without man handling him, if he never left he should have used minimal force.
We know in an ideal World the Transport Police would have been waiting for the student and then it could have been sorted out but it's not an ideal World.
I couldn't see a Taxi driver taking someone to their destination if there was any problems over payment or someone getting off paying for their shopping in Tescos by gobbing off.
All that's happened is a member of the public is probably going to get a criminal record and the muppet of a student is going to be so well known that no future employer will touch him with a barge pole. Not exactly worth the cost of a train ticket in my books.Comment

I dont see whats this has to do with taxi drivers snowy but for the record if someone is abusive to me i will tell them to calm down and speak to me respectfully or they will be going nowhere. That usually does the trick. As for your point regarding payment i have taken home an old lady who lost her purse an old lady who fell in the street and loads of young girls who got scared out in the town with no money, and flagged me down.Sometimes you just have to the right thing.
So snowy you are wrong.Comment

It's amazing that verbal abuse is appropriate, if this is correct, I'm sure explaining an error would have prevented any of this.

I'm sure there's good and bad in all walks of life. Maybe if he was respectful to the conductor and had no money someone may have felt sorry for him and bought him a ticket. Who knows.
Full respect for helping out others I just wish more on here were like it. I've had a Taxi driver drive off when I flagged him down when my wife's friend had a diabetic seizure and I've also read posts on here where taxi drivers have stolen mobile phones etc that were left in their taxi's. So as you see there are all sorts out there.
I hope they both get their knuckles rapped with no affect on their future. They were both idiots at the end of the day.Comment
