It's so sad what is being said about Margaret Thatcher. If she was so bad she wouldn't of been elected 3 times. The only people who are complaining are Union workers who before her were slowly killing Great Britain. If something she privatized failed or started to fail it was because things that don't make money are always going to fail. Why do you think they were privatized in the first place. I wouldn't say she did everything good but Britain was better off with her then without her.Comment

i am an ex miner, i was on strike for over a year, i dont hold that against her, the fact that she was a lying, cheating, coniving bitch who escaped the briton bomb, now that is what i hold against her. how on earth any true football fan from any club could support her beggers belief.Comment

Even when she was alive I'd still have said to her face why I didn't like her, she's the No. 1 reason we have no manufacturing, or any other industry come to think of it, which we could use to get ourselves out of this recession. We do nothing now other than supply services, and as everyone knows that will always move to the cheapest country it can.
On another note, she is still dead isn't she? wouldn't put it past her to come back as a zombie the old witch. Perhaps it would be worth cutting off her head, putting a stake through what passes for a heart if you can find it and burying her at a crossroads to be on the safe side.My master plan is to live forever..... going to plan so far

Thatcher never killed the UK manufacturing industry. The British people did by buying cheap foreign imports. At the same time UK workers were striking for higher wages and less hours the Chinese were deregulating their industries and ramping up their exports. Natural resources and labour rates were a fraction of the costs in UK. Who in their right mind would pay 3 times the cost for an identical piece of kit from elsewhere.
Labour were in charge when the Country started going down the pan ( sounds familiar). We were being bailed out by the IMF and National strikes were the norm as the Unions fought for more wages for workers that were already costing the tax payer money. Google the winter of discontent.
She wasn't perfect but if she hadn't took control we'd be a third World Country.Comment

By the end of 1977 there were improvements in the balance of trade. Britain did not need to draw the full loan from the IMF.

Answer ......yes there was national strikes, but there was also very large scale strikes with previous conservative government and even today there are realistic calls for a national strike .

Strange how our kids who were born after Thatcher being our PM leave home and pay council tax and none off them have a riot over paying it. Most start work being paid minimum wage at ?3.68 and don't strike over the pay, even at 18 its only ?4.98.Sir Alex Ferguson in 1988

Completely different. Council tax is based on property value plus rebates for under occupancy. Don't think someone on minimum wage could afford to rent let alone get a mortgage, minimum wage job at best would get you a 25k mortgage.
I used to get ?35 per week and that witch used to take nearly half of it in poll tax, I was paying the same as all her cronies living it up in their mansions, not exactly a fair system.Comment

i had 2 poll taxes to pay thanks to that woman. my ex hubby was in incap and cause i worked i had to pay the full lot for him as well. no tears will be shed by me and i doubt anyone else in scotland. she was hated up here. that wont change and never will.sigpic
