Leave the poor woman alone. Everything she did in power, she did because she had to, not because she was an evil witch.
She inherited a poor economy, where inflation was in double figures (peaking at 18%), from the previous Labour regime and she fixed it. Britian was one of the poorest countries in Europe and she made us the third richest.
Privatising industry generated a lot of money which helped the country pay off it's debt.
The unions were long overdue their come-uppance.
The Falklands war is often mentioned as a waste of time and resources for just a silly little island with a couple of penguins. But it was a matter of principle amongst other things. And, since the discovery of oil in the surrounding seabed, it's been shown that it was the right decision to fight to keep hold of the Falklands.
Besides, the islanders class themselves as British and Argentina has never had any real cultural or historical claim on the islands other than that they're close to Argentina.
She got a lot of stick over the poll tax being a tax on the poor blah blah blah but it was not a tax on the poor at all. Council tax is far worse than the poll tax.
Poll tax meant that every working adult in a house paid - A house with 4 working adults paid 4 lots of tax. With council tax, there was one tax bill which those 4 people could pay 25% each. HOT SWEET POTATOES!
Meanwhile, a house with one working adult with 4 kids to feed receives the same council tax bill and has to come up with that money themselves.
Ipso facto, the people with more money are getting a better deal than those with less. With poll tax, everyone was in the same boat.
Besides all that, she's not in power anymore and hasn't been for a long time so the Maggie-bashing is beyond pointless. Especially that, since she's been gone (since she's been gone, out of my head, can't take it), her successors have proper and royally buggered things up far more than she gets stick for.
RIP Maggie (or don't. I couldn't really give a monkeys)
Red I will agree with you on this, just live her to rest in peace, if you all compare to what?s happening with con/Lib govt rules, we are going to have a very bad times ahead off us?

Did not happen in Thatcher?s days, bad time is on the card and its happening?.
British unemployment rose in February and wage growth slowed to a record low, suggesting cracks are starting to show in the labour market at a time when the central bank is split on another cash boost for the economy.
Britain's main jobless rate rose to 7.9 percent in the three months ending in February, the highest rate since the three months to August 2012 when it was also 7.9 percent, the Office for National Statistics said on Wednesday.Tools owned: Hammer, Chisel, Crowbar, Punch, Chainsaw, Cutter and Brain!!!

Community charge was because she had to?
Yes banks and shareholders got very rich off the sales of BT, British Steel, Gas, railways, utilities and the like. Of course she also decimated those industries and we now have nothing to sell abroad to speak of. The way to get out out of a recession is to manufacture, or sell, goods that you sell abroad for another countres money, then they owe you and you have some. We can't do that now because we have no manufacturing industry and nothing we can sell like gas and oil. Funny how when in government 'ownership' those companies never made a profit, but were sold on teh cheap and made massive profits the next day. Odd eh? anyone would think they were sold undervalued *shrug* I know I do.
I believe the Argentinians saw her governments decision not to have as many ships sail around the Falklands as part of their duty as an invite to invade, and she was warned that this would be the case, but still made the cuts anyway. However I'd have to recheck that. The Falklands war is often mentioned as a waste of time and resources for just a silly little island with a couple of penguins. You do know it was Maggie who introduced the Community Charge don't you? You seem confused as to which is best. I'll leave you to sort that part of you outShe got a lot of stick over the poll tax being a tax on the poor blah blah blah but it was not a tax on the poor at all.
