Cameron urges Britons to fight to keep Scotland

Prime Minister David Cameron urged people in all parts of the United Kingdom on Friday to persuade their Scottish friends and family to vote against independence in September's referendum.

In an impassioned speech in London, Cameron warned there were "seven months to save the most extraordinary country in history", ahead of the September 18 vote which threatens to break up the UK.

Only four million Scots can vote, but the British leader reached out to the 59 million people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, which he said would be "deeply diminished without Scotland".

"Get on the phone, get together, email, tweet, speak, let the message ring out... We want you to stay," Cameron said.

Cameron is panicking as he knows if we get Independence we kick out Trident and then can drill for the oil off of the West Coast of Scotland. Currently previous Governments have used the security of the submarines to block drilling although a couple of test drills in the 70s found oil. Having been lied to by previous Governments about North Sea oil I get very sceptical about why someone down South wants to keep a financial burden as we keep getting labelled. Even though we contribute more than we get back. Maybe it's because we all vote Tory (not).

Don't get me wrong here, I wish Scotland all the best luck in it's choice, and the people voting should think who has the most to gain. If it's going to be good for short, medium and long term for "the people" then all well and good, if it's for the sake of Alex's ego etc then think again. Oil won't last forever we keep getting told.

Me I think it's a badly thought out ego trip for Alex but what do I know. Anyway, getting back to my reason for replying to your post...... why can the rest of us not vote on whether we want to keep Wales, Scotland and the rest, after all the English appear to have no say in whether we keep union with the others? (not that I'd vote to get rid, I hasten to add). If we're being told by the Tories that we will get a vote whether to stay in the EU shouldn't the English (and the Welsh, NI etc) have a vote to exit the UK and stand alone as well?

Almost forgot, since Mrs GJ is a Jok, can I have her repatriated as an illegal alien the minute Scotland gets independence?

Well I would guess that, if it happens, and Scotland joins the Eu as a new member they'll have to accept the Schengen Agreement (which all new countries joining the EU have to). England not wanting to join the Schengen Agreement would mean that the border would have to be patrolled and anyone crossing it form Scotland would have to show their passports or be turned away *shrug* I'll make sure Mrs GJ is in Scotland on the day

I fully buy the bit about Cameron saying how much we mean to team GB and it being from his heart and head. Lets face it the Tories do absolutely everything from the heart and head. I mean who can even think of the last time they never shafted Joe public. Aye right. We have one Tory MP. We don't like most of their policies, we are a burden yet as he's all heart he wants us to stay together. There can't possibly be an underlying natural resources reason.

Why would Scots people vote to stay part of the union? Scots, Welsh and Irish should go it alone.... They are separate countries with individual identities.
