Liverpool FC sign ?12m Daniel Sturridge
LIVERPOOL FC have today completed the ?12million signing of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea.
The 23-year-old striker, who agreed personal terms and passed a medical before Christmas, has penned a three-and-a-half year contract.
Sturridge is expected at Anfield to watch tonight's Premier League clash with Sunderland and could make his debut against Mansfield Town in the FA Cup on Sunday.
"I am humbled and happy to be here," said Sturridge.
"Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time - and I also see myself here for a long time. I've not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on.
"I've signed to be here for as long as possible. It's a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing."
Brendan Rodgers has been desperate to add more firepower to his squad having been overly-reliant on Luis Suarez in the first half of the season.
The Reds boss tried to sign Sturridge on loan back in August but the move didn't happen as the striker was only interested in a permanent deal.

Thought we were excellent tonight, clinical and played some great football
sturridge will make a big difference, the competition for places is really starting to make players play better now.
Allen in and out, looked hungry when he came on, and the same for suso.
Henderson played well again tonight and downing did ok too...
I think brendan rodgers deserves alot of praise for how he is handling players, dropping them and then getting more out of them after.
If he can turn sturridge into more of a team player who creates as well as shoots....it hink we will have a really good attack.
Sterling saurez sturridge.......lots of pace, creativity, skill and ability in those 3Comment

Sloppy 2nd half some players went missing, credit Mansfield coming out the way they did after the first half. On another day we could have been out.
I thought Sturridge played well could have had a couple but want to see less of the show boating and that pathetic dance
Got a lot of respect for Mansfield for the tribute to the 96 what a gesture and manager Paul Cox comments after the game what a top bloke.
That Suarez goal shouldn't have been given think we all know that but the officials are there to make the decisions not the players. It wasn't deliberate for me and just by his reaction when he puts it in the net he's expecting a whistle to be blown.
oh and ESPN commentator Jon Champion is a P***k

Hi
Paul Cox and some of his players need to be commended on the way they talked it down.
Anyone else other than LS and it would have focused on the officials for missing it but cos its LS idiots are coming out with all sorts of rubbish.
Cant see a defender saying to a ref. hey thats was a penalty I did clip him even though you didnt see it etc.
Comments by that Jon Champion are out of order and someone should make him accountable.

Rodgers on the Suarez goal
The manager was quick to douse any debate surrounding Suarez's goal post-match, with the home side left disappointed by an accidental handball by the Uruguayan.
"It hit his hand, there's no question about that. But it wasn't deliberate," Rodgers explained.
"Straight away I said to the fourth official: 'Was that handball?' He said it was but it wasn't deliberate. Andre [Marriner, referee] didn't deem it deliberate. It's unfortunate for Mansfield because it ends up being the winning goal.
"I'm not sure what people want him to do in that situation. The ball has hit him - that's the job of the officials, to make the decision whether it was deliberate or not. It's not his job.
"If it was someone else, we wouldn't be discussing it to this detail.
"I only like to talk about his talent. It was absolutely not his fault. If it was deemed deliberate, the referee would have disallowed the goal - none of them did, so the goal counts.

Did Suarez Cheat? Given his record he probably meant it. No matter what it's for the ref to decide to call it even thou i thought Stevie Wonder was working the game as a linesmen. This is what sports has turned out to be. Try to get away with it. I will have to say it wasn't as bad as the hand ball goal of Messi or Maradona. For me i didn't like the hand ball but if they don't call it don't give it backComment

Hi
What player owns up to things. Where do you draw the line.
What about when players claim goal kick when they know it went off them and its a corner or other similar incidents.
The player who knew he is offside cos he can see across the line but officials miss it should he tell the ref actually I was offside and its not a goal.
Can they all be labelled as cheaters.
In this LS incident the word "cheat" does not fit........ yes it was a handball and it shouldnt have been a goal but thats the officails call.
We might as well put all the onus on players being honest and officiate the game themselves, no need for officials then.
