Well Roy likes Gerrard maiking runs from deep, like he did when he was LFC manager.

Id like to see him play more attacking behind the attackers, where Young was playing. Maybe he will when Rooney returns them 2 have a good understanding n link up well.

As much as i think Welbeck is a better player than Carrol i cant see him scoring so would prefer Carrol over him in the Sweden game.
Expecting a physical game and Carrol can put it about.
Sure the likes of Young can feed off his scraps and knockdowns.

Very pleased with the performance against Spain. 3 at the back worked well against the Spanish midfield runners (especially 1st half). De Rossi was immense at the back, and Pirlo although pipped by Iniesta as top midfielder, produced the most telling passage of play with his pass for Di Natale.

Stroll in the park for Spain, I think the lack of quality in the middle for Ireland showed, but that was the best team in the world

Aye the republic were woeful but they were always going to be up against it as they just don't have the class and technical ability to worry teams.
