Comparing Matthew Le Tissier to Gerrard makes you look daft..
Le Tissier never won anything did he..??
Gerrard is only missing a League medal and he has the full set.
Champions League
UEFA Cup
UEFA Super Cup
FA Cup
League Cup
He even has more runners up medals than Le Tissier has winners medals..
World Club Championship
Champions League
Sorry, give him his due, Le Tissier won the coveted
1993-94 Match Of The Day Goal of the SeasonLast edited by opsmonkey; 2 December, 2009, 21:54.

The point being made was it's time to move on. Something both players seem to struggle with. I think Gerrard is a world class player now playing for a 'spent force' team. The loss of Alonso was massve, and he is not that great. Liverpool have relyed so heavily on Gerrard's abilty to play class football week in week out that it has hidden the real underlying problem at LFC, that being your team now has 2 world class players. You can't expect Gerrard to try and do it for ever unless he is a Matt Le Tissier kind of guy. It's to be commended that he would stay with Liverpool, although you could hardly blame him if he fancied Spain. Torres, well that's another story.
EDIT: I still think Liverpool will finish 4th (you certainly need to), but at the beginning of Dec that League medal is beyond him.Last edited by Lyrrad; 3 December, 2009, 09:29.Comment

alonso isnt that good, he is the best at what he does pal.
torres will never leave, he doesnt want to.
gerrard nearly went but changed his mind because he knew where his heart was, if you read their books you would know this.

'torres will never leave, he doesnt want to.'
Oh boy! He is allowed to change his mind.
I agree i don't think Gerrard will leave, but Torres? Sorry, it's possible for a player to leave even if he doesn't want to (did Alonso want to leave?). It happens all the time. I think it is more of a case that you can't afford for him to leave. He is a player, like any other player, and a foreign one at that that. Of course he can leave. If Liverpool go 2 seasons without Champions League football, do you think he will still be around. I think he may well have written another book by then. Alonso! I think he always looked best when Gerrard looked best. I can't say I 've seen too much of him at Real Madrid, but what I have seen is just good, not outstanding. Sorry he may have looked outstanding at liverpool, but he is now surrounded by world class players and to me he doesn't shine. It's of course early days, but time will tell.
And yes Gerrards heart is at liverpool, exactly as Le Tissier's was at Southampton. My original point.
Anyway enough of my Liverpool bashing, it wasn't my intention. I do think they will finish 4thLast edited by Lyrrad; 3 December, 2009, 12:48.Comment

urm, once again. alonso DID want to leave after the way he was treated and torres has publically said that he wants his little girls to frow up and talk scouse'torres will never leave, he doesnt want to.'

By saying Alonso DID want to leave because of the way he was treated surely indicates that he would like to have stayed but could not because he was not really wanted.
And I must agree I am ready to frow up with Torres if this thread continues much longer. The guy is 26 years old. It's reasonable to suggest that he may make a few life changing decisions sometime in the future.
If it makes people happier.
I believe that Torres and Gerrard, the two best players in Europe, will both spend the rest of their playing days at Liverpool whatever happens to the football club. However I remember all the gooners saying Henry will never leave. It does happen you knowLast edited by Lyrrad; 3 December, 2009, 19:03.Comment

Do all Liverpool fans conveniently forget that Stevie G wanted to leave previously? To go to London, west London at that. It wasn't untill the death threats against his family started that he changed his mind and decided to stay.
I'm not saying he doesn't love Liverpool just that he's nearly left before with London as his destination over frustrations at his lack of 'meaningful' medals so this guys perspective isn't quite as far fetched as you wish it wasComment

yeh i have mentioned this before some people have a very selective memory and/or just plain refuse to believe that the wonder of "stevie g" was off into the sunset
apparantly he doesnt dive either
and if im being brutally honest he is a footballer in decline and will never be what he used to be again which was the fulcrum of a bog standard team
a bit like le tissComment
