More than a touch of local bias here! The Glen Hysen I remember was one of the worst signings Kenny ever made. The guy stood next to me on the Kop at his home debut remarked "That's no Swede - it's a ******* turnip".
There is no point kidding ourselves that at the moment we are second choice at best for a lot of players. I wrote weeks ago that the problem we faced was that United, Arsenal, Spurs and even Chelsea were looking to strengthen in the same areas as us. More and more players are saying that the Champions League is what draws them to a new club - and we can't offer that. Let's not deny that we wanted to sign Young (Ganga wrote a full upper-case tribute to him!) and Jones. We have lost out and must now concentrate on our back-up deals. That's not ideal but is a fact of life. That's why I wrote after the Villa debacle that it could cost us dear. We cannot even say that were just one place away from Europe's top table and cannot even offer Europa League as a poor substitute. As for paying over the odds; everybody does it at our end of the table. Simply because too many clubs are chasing too few players. Does any Red really think that we got Carroll and Henderson at bargain prices? Good players though they are we definitely paid the seller's price. This project, to use the latest football buzz word, is going to be one of evolution not revolution. Comolli and Dalglish will really have to earn their wedge this summer. Interesting days!

Glad we didnt get Jones and Young, There are better out there for cheaper..... You have got Jones, Supposedley Young and DeGea, Supposedley... You wont buy anymore, Thats the bankbook shut after that, Unless you try to hijack Adam, Wouldnt put it past baconface.

Cause Adams is one of them out there better and he is defo cheaper!! We won't try and get Adams, There are defo better out there than him!! We are trying to build our team not buy average players, But pool are second fiddle to the top 4 as CL football is attracting the best players out there!!

We don't want to buy a average midfield player like Adams Who was Blackpools best player last season!! We want world class players to fill the boots of a world class player who has just retired, We want to win trophies not finish 6-7 like you have and will

Berba Top scorer in prem this season!! Carrick has had a crap season but before he was injured was class, but not good enough for us now granted,

Young and Jones... Well knig kenny thinks they are!!! but then again he thinks downing is, Now you get real you can't buy the best players out there cause your not in the CL and thats a FACT, Anyway 35m for carrol

What you failed to say was that i posted this in the Liverpool thread and only in the Liverpool thread. You read the article and 20 odd replies on the Echo website and then picked out one that suited you and dragged the thread in here. Obssessed ? I would say so
