    Match Officials in Scotland

After watching Scottish Football from a neutral standpoint this season,I have been amazed at the performance of match officials to ensure Rangers win SPL title.Having witnessed several events over the course of this season that have favourably benefited the club,it is a wonder the SFA did not just hand them the League trophy at the start of the season. On closer scrutiny,a club with important ties throughout the whole of Scottish society and having key figures in high positions whose allegiance is with the club, there was never any doubt at the eventual outcome. It is in a perilous financial position with a senior bank executive sitting on its board as Chairman overseeing the day to day running of the club off the park. Therefore, the only way to increase revenue is for the near-bankrupt club to win honours and qualify for Champions League Football.Unfortunately,Celtic fans do not seem proactive enough in dealing with this situation. In other countries, opposing fans would lay siege to the Football Association Offices and petitioned UEFA to investigate the partial performance of match officials resulting in these officials being barred from international competions.
There is a poison which emanates through Scottish Football due to the cultural & religious diversity of both these clubs, yet the decision of match officials to favour one against the other is doing nothing to bridge this gap. With 'fait accompli',we may see some neutrality returning to the fore.It seems that the SFA want to endorse Rangers as the club of the establishment, ensuring a helping hand in time of need

Do we forget all the last minute penalty decisions etc that celtic were offered seasons ago.

Goals and decisions not given etc.

Always gonna be this blame the Ref talk.

As from a nuetral watching on SPL its funny you thought to comment on this straight after an Old Firm game where one person was red carded?

Would yuo care to comment on any other games being played and refs decisions? Bottom of the league decisions for example that have hampered the teams unfortunate to be sitting with relegation glooming?

Personally as a rangers fan i think Celtic were unlucky not to get a draw as the game was 50/50.

Last minute goal by Edu. I remeber H Larsson done this on a regular basis over the course of 2 season.

    Thats football for you

what utter crap some people can talk.

        nutural my ass

look at the stats of yesterdays game,,,, no corners,, no shots on target the full 2nd half,, do you think they really were beat with a bad decision? ( a decision that every professional referee has backed, to the exception of mabie the point lafferty shoulda got a yellow for his part in browns little hand bag fight. ),,, celtic have lost the league on there own accord.. nowt to do with referees, and pretty shamefull and embarassing for scottish football that they have to stoop so low to excuse there pishy manager.
wasnt a coincidece celitc complained officially few days before old firm,, they themselves single handily put more pressure on yesterdays reff than any other of the 50000 people there could have

I'd like to add that the cultural & religious diversity that often manifests into bigotry is not just a Scottish football or indeed an 'old firm' problem - it's a Scottish society problem.

                Here's another one. Handbags - 2 yellows.

Indeed, therein lies the problem. The Old Firm run a duopoly in the sport of football, and it seems that depending on your upbringing you are going to follow one or the other. In turn, those of a Rangers persuasion tend to hold more prominent positions within the Football Association and Refereeeing Body allowing the status quo to continue. There needs to be a drastic overhaul of the system to stop this abuse from taking place.I am not advocating Celtic minded people start to enter these Associations as two negatives will not make a positive in this case,it will probably make things twice as bad. What we need is match officials who are capable of officiating with complete impartiality in the true manner of fair play

Lafferty's a shame on scottish football! no wonder both side's of the old firm dont like him anymore! his attitude to come out and say something along the lines of "i can do what i want, I have a big house, fance car etc etc" when he's parking in disabled spots and doin bugger all but dirty challenges on the field and causing hassle off it.

2ndly - if the referee sends scott brown off, lafferty has to be sent off. both of them where at it

3rdly - Bougherra, AFTER being booked, gave away 6 further free kicks...how is that not a further yellow for persistant fouling?

4thly - the sun newspaper, posting a pic of a celtic fan with an argentina top, but failure to point out a rangers fan shouting "F**K THE POPE" during his own teams minute's silence (fair play to the rangers fans for booing him afterwards!)

5thly - i totally agree celtic have been poor all season for different reasons, but for anyone to say the ref got it spot on yesterday...is looking through blue sun glasses. there was decisions for both teams that the ref got completly wrong and 1 of those was to book Bougherra at the start and as previously mentioned, to give away 6 further free kicks and no yellow card is complete joke

its a sad day when we should be following the example of other countries and using non "scottish or scottish based" referee's for ALL games.

Officials from outside Scotland is the way to go. Scottish officials on the whole are at best incompetent. Is it a coincidence that there will not be any Scottish officials at the world cup?? It's clear what Fifa thinks of them.

Like I've said before on here - it can not be right to have officials with leanings towards a particular team officiating on that teams game. How many times have we/do we hear the expression "it was an honest mistake" when referring to another mistake made by a Scottish official. Only in Scotland...

What about the chants of Oh ah Up the Ra and P I R A from the Celtic end Sky as usual had to turn the sound down just like they had to do at Falkirk on Remeberance day. How did you miss that out??? Funny eh?

Both sets of the infirm fans are an embarassment to Scottish football. They bitch and moan about referree's not giving them anything but it is blatantly obvious to anyone watching football outwith the infirm that the referree's give the "Glasgow Giants" every decision going. I would say the sooner they go away down to England the better but the English don't want them either and can you blame them after the Manchester incident. I want an old firm free SPL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
