I,ve supported England since my youth ( Wales aint got anything worth watching) and i,m disappointed with the present team i don,t know what it is but they are missing something, its called a second striker, heskey is great as a foil for Rooney but he,s not a striker, I don,t fancy them to win the World Cup, i hope they do and i,ll be supporting them all the way, but i,m sorry lads they aint got it !!

well we have a week group so hopefully we will show something for all the tabloid hype; tabliods who have hyped up the team again to make almost every man and his dog think we are gonna win, I would not say we are even serious contendors to be painfully honest. I don't see England getting past the semis after that lack lustre performance against the yanks.. I agree that we are too complacent when it comes to playing them, but England don't normally loose there balls until a more stressful opponent a few more games along.
With the lack of players to choose from due to the premiership being a foreign legion we have to make do with what there is.. English teams have always had difficulty in keeping control of the ball and lack the technical ability of countries such as Brazil, Argentina and the Netherlands. There is too much emphasis in England on physical prowess and not enough on keeping control of the ball. Possession football is pretty boring. Unfortunately, the latter is usually the approach that wins international tournaments. England are unlikely to win if they continue their current approach. Can they play possession football? Doubtful.
However this whole world cup so far has been tedious, no outstanding games to speak of. I hope it picks up and we start to see some true world class games that we would expect to see.. The biggest gripe other than England's lack lustre performance is those ~~~~ing horns... if anybody starts blowing one of those in my ear while i am watching a game at the pub, he will find it in the other end, sideways,,,,, grrrr they annoy me sooooo much..
just an opinion..
On a lighter more amusing note, i am amazed to see that the USA team made it to the world cup at all.... look at the map behind him

World Cup 2010: Fabio Capello slams 'worst ever ball'
England coach Fabio Capello believes the World Cup ball is the worst he has ever seen.
The Jabulani ball being used in South Africa for the World Cup has been widely criticised because of its irregular flight.
"For the players it is terrible," said Capello. "It is also terrible for the keepers because it is impossible to anticipate the trajectory."
World governing body Fifa has defended the ball, saying it was fully "tested".
The Jabulani - its name derives from the Zulu words "to celebrate" - was made available in February and was used at this year's Africa Cup of Nations as well as a number of domestic leagues, including Germany, Argentina and the United States.
The ball was tested at Loughborough University in England but it was not used in the Premier League because it has a contract with rival manufacturer Nike.
Adidas say altitude is the main factor affecting the way the ball behaves in flight and have blamed players for not practising enough with it before the tournament
However, Capello feels the ball is having an adverse effect on games.
"The big problem is that sometimes this ball is impossible to control," said England's Italian manager.
"It is good when you play short passes but when you try to switch the ball with long passes it is very difficult to understand the trajectory."
England drew their opening game with the USA 1-1 when an awful error from goalkeeper Robert Green allowed Clint Dempsey to equalise Steven Gerrard's opening goal in Rustenburg.
Green refused to blame the ball for his handling error but admitted that it had moved unexpectedly after Dempsey hit his shot.
Rooney denies ball is a problem
Ivory Coast boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has joined the chorus of criticism and believes goalkeepers should be consulted when new footballs are being designed for international tournaments.
"It's too late to do something about it in this World Cup," said Eriksson.
"It's a decision for the authorities for the next big tournament. It should be discussed and everyone should listen to the top goalkeepers in the world."
England's David James, Italy's Gianluigi Buffon and Iker Casillas of Spain were among the goalkeepers who criticised the Jabulani before the tournament began.
"The ball is dreadful. It's horrible but it's horrible for everyone," stated James, who said some goalkeepers would end up "looking daft".
Eriksson, who was previously in charge of England and Mexico, said he could understand why goalkeepers were unhappy.
"Maybe we will see some goals. But discussion between managers, the company who produce the football and the football players, that would be good," he added.IM SORRY but i will never have any sympathy for maggie thatcher .... the bitch

Campbell attacks Capello Sol hits out over World Cup snub
Sol Campbell has hit out at Fabio Capello for overlooking his claims to an international recall in favour of 'a couple of half-fit players'.
The veteran centre-back, who started the season in League Two with Notts County, had hoped his end of term renaissance with Arsenal would have been enough to force himself into the Italian's thoughts.
But Capello overlooked the claims of the 74-cap international and preferred to select Ledley King, despite concerns over his fitness, while talking Jamie Carragher out of international retirement.
Captain Rio Ferdinand was ruled out of the tournament after suffering a knee injury in the very first training session in South Africa and there are doubts as to whether King will feature again after a groin injury in the opening draw with the USA.
That leaves Carragher, who looked off the pace against America, Matthew Upson and late arrival Michael Dawson as the options alongside John Terry, and Campbell has been left baffled as to why he was not considered.
Really hurt
He told ESPN: "I can understand if Capello was thinking, 'this guy is for England's past' but then he went back for a couple of players who had retired from international football.
"That I couldn't understand if he wasn't interested in going back to me.
"Not only that, Capello has gone for one centre-half who didn't have a very good season, and another who just missed out on relegation.
"It's crazy when you think about it, that I would have done anything for crack at it, but never did. I was really, really hurt to be totally overlooked without even having an opportunity.
"I have been playing with England teams since I was 15 years old. I have won 74 England caps - been there, got the T-shirt - and it's experience that counts at this level as well."
Campbell, who is out of contract and being tipped for a move to Celtic, felt he had done enough during his stint with the Gunners to deserve consideration for a return to the international fold.
In the groove
And he believes the decision to select players such as Ferdinand and King, who had question marks over their fitness, has made his snub all the more galling.
He added: "I wouldn't mind being out in South Africa with the England team.
"The way I have been playing for Arsenal, don't you think I should be? I do. For sure.
"Regrets? You could say that. I regret the fact that the England camp didn't think of me. I would have put my heart and soul into playing for my country again.
"I played my heart out for Arsenal again and thought it was worthy of a chance with England. It never came.
"Surely, you pick people in the groove, and I was back in the groove, and I was fit.
"Instead, Capello picked a couple of half-fit players. It fell right for them. Not for me."
sounds like sour grapes too me! i would rather have to half fit players as he says then sol campbell, in his prime yes but not now!Last edited by lfc4life; 17 June, 2010, 11:31.IM SORRY but i will never have any sympathy for maggie thatcher .... the bitch
