dvd drive version wont play backups

i have a black wii and i read that some dvd drives will not play backups, if thats so of my drive could i buy another from ebay or sum other place and replace it..??

black wii's cant play dvd backups you buy new drives off ebay,but you would be better off putting that money to a hdd

i have a usb harddrive but i want to be able to use my dvd drive to play games too. i.e. if i borrow a backup off my friend i have no way of playing or copying the game for my self..

seen some dvd drives on ebay for around ?15 from hong kong, dont know which dvd drive i would need though..

D2C most likely. Check online which drive your wii has and which replacement drive will do the Job. A d2c is around ?60.

you can rip retail games using your usb loader strait to your hdd,and for backup games you can make a iso for your hdd using imgburn

another thing, i used complete 4.2 soft mod and i think i went wrong and now when i insert an original game im asked to update. i've been told that using preloader will stop it from updating and i should use hackmii to backup my system. or should i use the safe 4.2 update to fix the problem? would like to know your opinion... cheers

some games need to update an ios not your system menu,what game is it? and yes it is worth installing preloader youll find it in wii download section
