      I think the XBOX 360 has suffered from the same problem for ages as well.
      However it all depends on how the repair was done. If they just replace the heat paste it won't last long.
      A lot of the problem is the way the parts are put on the circuit board. If more care was taken there woundn't be a problem with corrosion/ solder oxidising.

          ylod always comes back, Best fix it then flog it or trade it into games station. the only way to stop this from coming back perminent is to use a proper bga reflow work station

            Yup. Every machine I fixed eventually YLOD'ed again.

            Still, it's a fairly quick and easy fix, it'll let you have more time with your machine and it costs bugger all, so it's worth doing over and over again until your mobo finally dies.

                The reflow does work. BUT not for long. Ive done it 3 times and each time the fix works for a shorter time. Even if you use flux it still only temporary.

                            I got the dreaded YLOD yesterday so hopefully this will fix it, As long as the PS3 lasts long enough to backup everything I'll be happy, Thanks.

                              FYI, If you want to read the pdf file for this fix, you have to;

                              1. Register
                              2. Click on the link in your valid e-mail that you used to register
                              3. Post on the Forum
                              4. Wait about 15 minutes, and then you're supposed to be able to download pdf files.

                              ... yeah... 'cause I'm not already super frustrated the my PS3 won't start....

                                Result! It worked, Well its booted up fine, I still have to try a game to see if anything happens. I wish I'd have kept the VOID sticker intact and I would've traded it in. Oh and ?40 on a heat gun because no shops had any cheap ones in
