REMOVE DELL BIOS HDD PASSWORD
If you're getting an HDD password request during the initialization, you can remove it by entering a new admin password (an HDD password can't be made unless an admin pass was created first)...after failing the 3rd attempt in entering the HDD pass, do not push enter the 2nd time (causes shut down and you'll have to start the process all over again)...hold F2, while holding F2, push ENTER, your shut down process should be bypassed allowing you to enter the BIOS utility page (if you didn't enter the utility page, you didn't follow the steps carefully...start over!) This is where it gets a little annoying, tricky, and sometimes frustrating...and sometimes it'll work so smoothly that you'll forget you had an HDD pass...
While in the utility page, go to the tab/page that allows you to enter an admin pass, if you can set one, choose an easy password, this password will override the HDD pass (the password you didn't know)...go to "Set HDD password" enter the newly created Admin password, it'll give you an option for a new password LEAVE IT BLANK (just push enter twice), you should see the status of the passwords as you change these settings...now go back to the "Set Admin password", enter the easy password you chose, leave the new password blank...all your password status's should be "Not Set"... now go to your utility exit option and SAVE Changes and Exit (or reset, whatever option they give you)...you should have no passwords that are required when your system boots!Comment
