Now these SATA drives are a bit funny.
I had a similar problem with my Vista laptop with a SATA drive. I played around with it for a few months. I decided to put WinXP 2002 Pro SP3 on it. I booted it up of the CD and it said No hard drive found. I can bootup of the Vista CD and it formats and installs.
Well my new desktop computer has a SATA drive and it installs on there without any glitches. It finds that SATA drive without any special drivers.
