@ The Man, Its a toshiba satellite l450-181.

@FootycardSteve. First thing to do is look at the back of you Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - DONT PANIC!!.
I've downloaded the manual for you laptop and it says you have a recovery partition. if you decide to use this it will return your computer to the same as it was first day you turned it on. It will erase any files you have saved so if you have something important get a mate to try and get it off first. if you dont have anything important on it do the following...

          1:Turn off computer
2: Hold 0 (ZERO) and turn on your computer.

A menu will come up and all you have to do is take your time, read everything carefully and follow the instructions. it should take you back to a pristine virus free factory state. Good luck!

no virus's, malware anything left on it.

new as if you had bought it from the shop.

i've just found the manual, i have found the system recovery options page. is this the section i need
                  SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTIONS
the system recovery options feature is installed on the hard disk when shipped from the factory.the system recovery options menu includes tools to repair start up problems, run diagnosics or restore the sytstem.
see WINDOWS HELP AND SUPPORT content for more info about START UP REPAIR.
the system recovery options can also be run manually to repair problems. the procedure is as follows.follow the instructions shown on the on screen menu.
                  1.turn off the computer
2.while holdiong the f8 key, turn on the computer
                  3. the ADVANCED BOOT OPTIONS menu will be displayed.use the arrow keys to selectREPAIR YOUR COMPUTER and press ENTER.
                  4.follow the on-screen instructions.
underneath it has grey info icon which says the windows 7 completepc backup featurecan be used on windiows 7professional and windows 7 ultimate.

is this the info i need?
