I was informed they had multiple servers in different countries, weird how the whole thing has gone down at the same time as the shop being closed.

No my service+ isn't working
But the official word is the server is being rebuilt from the ground up and is unrelated to the fire or closure of the alsat shop
Until we hear otherwise there isn't really much to say
As I have other arrangements in hand anyway it's hardly a problem I only really used service+ as back up

Apparently there shops have had a fire, I Doubt it but aye lets stay positive for it coming back ?

Yes i also have those 2 items, but there was a problem when footy season kicked off with some 3pm matches missing...it was thought that BT were given the instruction to stop the feed.

Not that accurate mate...I know many people who have a spiderbox because of its HD picture quality...The box is very capable of selling itself on that attribute alone...I have one and never used the so called gift.

if you take a look on ebay you will see that the price on sb has been slashed since the loss of service+ and the price will come down more if its not reinstated does that not tell you something, some people i have fitted spider for have paid out on a motorised system on the strenth of service+ i did tell them the possible loss of the server in the future but were willing to take the risk , some people just will not listen.

Official statement on alsatforum states service+ will be back up n running within 2 weeks

The server is based in Korea for anyone that thinks the fire @ alsat's shop is related LOL

i dont have a spiderbox now but there are
lots of conflicting posts about this problem
from fire at the shop, and police raids etc: now
i have just read that tring shop is also closed down
and a server has been closed down. and like most i
honestly dont know what is fact or fiction on this subject
so i guess it's which posting you want to believe at this point
iv'e also read the server will be back in a couple of weeks
i think if i still had my spider i would disconnect it from
the net untill i got more info about the server being back.

Where is the upload node though mate? It's got to be somewhere in Europe as it needs to see the sats.

Could also be in North Africa or anywhere that gets the signals from the sats to keep them updated.

Service+ will be back.
The fire and the subsequent removal of the stock from the ***** shop until repairs are made have nothing whatsoever to do with the problems being experienced with service+ which is of course not located there.

The news I have is that the server and database will have to be rebuilt from scratch and new measures put in place to prevent interference from hackers, enemies, and competitors.

Full service will not be restored immediately, and the beginning of the restoration of service+ may take a bit of time - more than just a few days unfortunately, but ultimately nobody will lose out on the 12-month gift.

Service+ will begin to be restored when the preliminary work is done and it will start with a few channels, building up progressively again like it has done since the beginning. A new patch will then be issued with even more security features.

Service+ has survived smaller assaults, and as they say "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!"

Now, as I've said before - Service+ is down for Maintenance and normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

I dunno that mate but i can't imagine they would be stupid enough to have it in the uk let alone their retail shop in London !!

i think most of us would appreciate an anouncement from dm himself it may help to put some faith on this matter but who knows where is he?

With Dm not saying anything i would think the worst.
Was the main thing that put me off a Spiderbox.
If you said anything bad about his service or the box you got as ban.
What sort of service is that.
From what i know the build quality of the box and remote are great so losing the service aint the worst thing in the world but i thought it would always end in tears with the scale they were working on.
