i have been thinking about buying a spiderbox 9000hd as there was some epl english commentry hd channels on gift that i cant get on my tm500s, just have to see if they get reinstated when server is complete. does the protek clear these channels

Yup I agree, spiderbox may well be able to open any channel a DM can...but without the gift the DM is hands down more flexible...the EPG plugins, multiple images from different development teams, vast array of available plugins...youtube, VLC etc, HD skins.

Add to the mix the DM clones are cheaper than Spiderboxes..so the only benefit of paying more for a Spoderbox is if the gift is working and you have a motorised dish.

I only have a fixed dish pointing at 28.2e so a spiderbox would not be worth my while. I like tinkering though and trying different images skins etc...so a Linux reciever is always going to be my 1st choice.

Nothing wrong with spiderboxes for people who want no hassle plug and play easy to use reciever with working PVR, and softcam compatibility. But I doubt many people would deny the main reason to purchase one was the "gift".

the gift is starting to come back, whats surprised me is the fall of price already on the spiderbox combo 9000 one of my suppliers emailed me ?130 inc vat and a 5000 for ?65.

I agree the gift swayed my decision to buy the box just like my protek but the reason i did buy it was so i didnt have to buy a C line to watch footy

i would be very careful about connecting your boxes up to the spiderbox server.Till the truth is known if trading stander/police have raided the shop they will have took a list of all the customers including who bought the spiderbox and receiving subscription tv with out a subscription is against the law .Before some start flaming me i dont give a sh*t about the spiderbox just be careful

A hell of a lot of people bought them from a third party and them shops are still selling them so cant see that been a problem, a lot of people wouldn't no that there had a shop as most sat shops on internet sell them also fley bay, also a lot of people wouldn't of gone on to the forum till after they bought one.

I dont know if you have ever ran your own personal server nor do i care but i can tell you ever ones ip address that connected to mine. If the police/trading standards have that server details then you log on and they know were you live and what you are watching plus an address list to from a shop.My advice would be use the box for FTA channels till this mess is cleared up but its only my advice.

I think ob care more about people running servers and selling the boxes to be honest. Chase thousand+ people to get either get cautions or fines or chase a few people who are looking at bird and those thousand+ looking at blank screens.

I no what you are saying honestly, and i agree with the shop and server thing, but info in the shop about anything to do with ips servers and shi* like that is highly unlikely, and yes careful i agree also but i think if anything is going on the minuns wont be targeted it will be the big boys!!
