im not going to continue to argue with you but that does not mean I am going to stop posting on this thread. If you look at the first post it was me that started the thread asking on peoples views on it and everyone can have there own view.

My view is clearly the opposite of yours but lets be grown ups here about it and allow each other to have his view. If a new Dream clone was to be released tomorrow I wouldnt rush out and buy it if I was looking for a new receiver, simply because I would see myself as a guinnea pig. I also wouldnt buy one because of the price because for not much more if I wanted a Duo i could have the original.

I think there's potential in a clone duo... But i also believe it to be on the risky side to invest in one at the moment.... Prices for duo clones is only going to get cheaper....and youd expect build qaulity and reliability to get better with future revisions to these clones....

I can see most people not wanting to risk it... But then i also admire guys like data07 who go out and take that risk to tinker and check out.... Its still over ?100 cheaper than an original and might seem better to risk it with one of them than pay more for a product which handles much the same - so far. Also, some people are more interested in tinkering or trying various boxes rather than just setting up to watch tv...each to their own. Reliability will be seen after heavy usage for a few months. Installing internal hard disk etc. really putting the box through it paces and seeing if it survives....overheating issues, meltdowns etc.

Another point that i dont think anyone has mentioned is that if the clones do get their act together and turn out to be accurate to the genuine boxes and are reliably built....then In around 6-12 months time i can see the original vu+ boxes declinging in value. People would rather pay ?170 for a clone duo rather than ?300 for an orginial.... These are all guesses or estimates at the minute.... But i do fear my orginal duo may not be worth what anywhere near what its worth at the moment.... Especially for resale value a year down the line.

i can see the good and bad things, yes if the clones are using an old image that is working perfect it may sell well, the originals will always have an update out again ,dam must be 6 i have missed now ,if it works dont mess is a great saying that the ordinary joe soap wants a box with no messing.
what happens in the future say in a months time some big change comes and all the boxes go off, more chance of a fix with an original, will that mean the clone can take the fix?? are you a gambler?

Can't add an internal hard drive to the solo. good box but not in the same league as the duo slower processor. good box but no were near as good as the duo.

Nobody seems to have mentioned the Uno in all this i have seen prices and it is approx ?10 dearer than an 800se, I could well be tempted by the Uno but not the Duo or solo.

I know mate i was just throwing the Uno into the mix as a box if its the same as the official one its faster than both the solo and duo
