    hey peeps, newbie needs advice...

    hey peeps, for a start,
i've got a openmedia 500cs box (like a dreambox 500s) and a belkin wireless gaming adapter (which i can use from the openmedia500cs to connect to my internet/pc wirelessly),
which are both gathering dust just laying around!

so i'm looking at getting a motorised sat,
just got a couple of questions,
i've seen this just wanted opinions as to what you peeps think?
seems like a good deal to me!
Technomate 97cm Motorised Satellite Dish Package 100cm | eBay

if i go for the above, what else would i need to get?

is the above dish size enough for birmingham?

i also wanted to ask in regards to the actual satellite dish,
is it better to have a solid one or a mesh one?

    thanks peeps!

shop around, can get cheaper if you buy seperately but yeah that kit looks like it has all you need except coax, 97 plenty fine for brum. i personally would say mesh depending on how high its going (less wind resistance)

i might just order that then,
yea i was thinking a mesh one.

so theres no difference in viewing quality between a solid or mesh dish?

wheres best/cheapest place to get coax from?
      ebay?

thanks for your quick replies mate, i appreciate it!

yea i think i'll go for the mesh one and i'll probs get a coax from fleabay!

in regards to the coax, sorry to sound stupid but does one end go to the back of the receiver and the other end to the motor and the lnb?

which sat image would you say is best for the openmedia500cs (dm500s)?

The best tip if you are new at it, is set it up tempory on the ground first, and try it out. It is very difficult to align the dish with the motor at height on true south. So if possible do this on the ground, and carry dish and motor together to required postion.
If you do this put a jubilee clip on the pole, so you just drop it on the pole sitting on the clip, while you do up the bolts. Also read the sticky
