If your dish is the Triax 1.1m then you do need the Dark Motor on there its probably the best USALS Motor at the moment apart from an Actuator but thats another story.

    Get The Dark Motor

If your paying the Installer to set it up for you then its his job to set it up with USALS and not yourself, If he does'nt then hes not worth having IMHO.

Good Choice far better than the Technomate, And just to add the benefits of the Superior Darkmotor over the TM 2600

DarkMotor : Automatic Backlash Adjustment & Full 80? east to west Movement

TM2600 : Backlash Adjustment has to be done with the motor taken of its mount and dish removed and adjusted with hammer and Screwdriver. Only goes to roughly 65? east to west Movement even when mehanical limiters have been adjusted inside the motor stub.

Hi. I have installed dozens of TM2600 and they are very good motors. Reliable and easy to setup. Like i said i am surprised that your motor lasted just over 12 months. Was it secondhand?? You should ask for an explanation as to why it broke down in the first place. Also any reason why your fitter used 1.2 and not USALS to find the satellites? I suspect that the motor did not have USALS software. Why dont you try and fit the motor yourself its not too difficult. Its just needs a lot of patience to get it right. Regards.

Setting up a motorised dish is really not that hard. There are some links in the forums you can follow. I set up my no-name usals motor by setting the dish up loose, setting the receiver to Astra (which then moved the dish via motor) then moving the dish by hand 'till I got Astra using the adjacent (fixed) sky dish as a guide. I also used a cheap and cheerful satellite signal meter I got off ebay just to check signal levels, but using the signal meter on the technomate (displayed on the TV) works just as well. Then ran a blind scan, and everything worked fine.

Finally back up and running, went to buy the dark motor but he had ran out of stock, ended up buying the tm2600, which is running ok, he could not get the usals working so inputed them manually, also fitted new lnb, charged me ?45 for fitting the motor and alignment, and supplying the lnb, so got some footie tonight, I have tried before to setup usals but could never get them working, anyway thanks again for all your help

New lnb and diseqc works ok, not bad for ?45 mate.
As for not being able to set up usals, it's easier than diseqc as long as bracket is plumb alround.

well not quite Diseqc is more forgiving if the pole is not plumb or your around a few inches out from True south, The harder is the USALS to get every sat spot on not just 1 or 2
