thats great thanks alot i think im never going to get there . Where you from? Ill keep trying any way and see how it goes.

So if i start again i need to

    1. line the dish, motor and pole up then twist the motor with dish on to due south.

    2. Then power to thor and twist the dish on the motor till i get a signal?

    3. the alter dish elevation to get a max signal.

    thanks alot

you do not need to move the motor it should already be in the correct position from your longitude and latitude settings in the reciever

just loosen the nuts round the motor pole and move the dish to the strongest signal point then tighten then loosen the bolts that make the dish go up and down find the strongest point again then tighten

you should now have the ideal position for e+w and the correct elevation

Looks like the wrong satellite to me, looks like hotbird..
I know your struggling but try receiving sky uk first, the satellite strength is much higher..
Try it once..we couldnt find thor, but once we found sky we sent the motor back to 1west knowing we were near

got to agree with sadiq i said earlier try to get sky first as you can mimic someone close's setup then after you get a perfect signal your dish should find thor straight away from the in built motor settings

Iv had a go with the sat finder to and got a lock on somthing but it must not of been astra

you need to take the motor off and lign the dish up on its own,,use the guide i gave you!!!........
getting the motor set right to trac the arc properly is nearly impossible the way u doing it!!!!......
if u try my way u will be watching thor tonight

ps im an engineer and this is the way i always use,and it never fails!

i was going to do it that way but i had a nightmare getting the dish and motor on as it is quite high up and trying to hook a 95cm dish and motor on a pole about 1m above the gutter line with only 1 person and 1 set of ladders was a challenge and dont know wheather i dare risk it again.

Im going to have 1 more pop at it in the morn and if still no joy someone said they will aline it with there proper meter for me on mon for ?30. Just a shame really caus i would of liked to get it on this weekend and have the satisfaction of getting down them ladders to a picture.

                  thanks alot

cheers anyway m8 i no its doing my head in. I just want it going so i can start messing about with images ,emus and cs etc on my new tm9100 super. i ended up selling my 500cs.

Well 1 more go at it 2moz before the installer comes on mon (fingers crossed ill end up getting sorted 2moz). im just going to try it with the motor on as it will be a right f*** about to take the dish down.

wen i get a lock on a sat with the sat finder, if its not the right one if i just keep moving the dish slightly will it just lock onto another etc and then eventually i should hit sky uk and a pic should come on. I cant be far off as next doors dish is right next to mine.

                      thanks

From looking at pic your dish is far too high, if you are in Britain, ireland it should be almost vertical. Hope this helps

wooohooo iv done it . I dunno how but i have. i thought id give it another go and have a mess about with it for 30mins. I set to 28.2 and moved the dish about a bit and altered the elevation on the motor slightly and hit a signal. It was the best feeling ever when i saw a pic .

I then used the sat finder to fine tune it and im getting all channels on all sats with the SNG about 84% and AGR about 65% does this sound about right?

I want to give a massive thanks to every1 on dk who has helped caus i couldnt of done it with out all of the top info. Especially Sadiq999uk,terriers,thered and Krazylegz.

the only prob now is that i cant go past 10E without the dish hitting the top of my gutter. Iv got about 4" higher i can go on the pole so hopfully if i move up slightly i will get at least to thor.

when moving it up if i mark the pole etc of the current position and slide up slightly should everything stay the same and will i still get a signal or will everything need readjusting again.

                                thanks alot
