I used a DVB tuner to scan for off the air channels using a small rooftop UHF antenna (not those small indoor type) pointing westward (between Bukit Batok and G. Pulai). These are what I can get (13 channels but only first 4 can be viewed)
1. MediaCorp HD5 1080
2. Digital 8 576
3. Digital CNA 576
4. Digital 5 576
5. Channel 1 480
6. All Sports Network 480
7. SuperSports 480
8. Football Channel 480
9. SuperSports Arena 480
10. The Racquet Channel 480
11. Ten Cricket 480
12. Channel 34 480
13. Channel 35 480
Question is what (& whose?) are these remaining unviewable channels (from 5-13)?

What u get is StarHub Terrestrial transmission (Nagra3 system of transmission) not Satellite. For those still in the drum, be known that N3 transmission by SH is already more than 3yrs old. Try read the Satellite section in DK from basic to learn the difference in , cable, Satellite (C and Ku band, footprint, biss key, etc), Terrestrial (Terrestrial-T2 is coming with HD), VHF, UHF and LHF. the later 3 are old fashion TV/radio transmission dat wud b obsolete in very near future. The most favorite medium of transmission now are the Satellite, then comes IPTV for International broadcasting.
Cable: A cable is run from transmission center to distributor-points then cabled to yr hm with a socket for u to connect to TV or decoder box. Digital and analog transmission.
Satellite C band (big round dish) or Ku band (a round or parabolic dish) with a LNB for 1 Sat or mutliple LNB (center or offset) for few Sat or a motorized Dish to search and direct to a selected Satellite transponder reception. Mainly digital only. But there are some special highly encrypted xx band transmission top secret for Govt, military and financial institution private use. (Actually this is the 'listener's' favorite reception band). If those who hv play with airport freq on plane take-off and landing in the 80s will know the joy u get knowing which plane takes off or coming-in to land at Changi b4 even see the plane.) Its some hobby like that but nowadays encryption making it very difficult but there are some loosely encrypted.
Terrestrial: Usually a local small radius high quality digital transmission that need a UHF Antenna like short fish bone for directional reception, or a short stick ( like a bicycle spoke) antenna omni directional for TV or Radio reception. This method is used by SH in Sg for more than 8yrs since N1 terrestrial transmission. Also the mobile TV that were in buses, defunct now due to poor reception blocked by buildings.
LHF, VHF and UHF mainly analog local transmission for TV/radio used by SCTV, TVRI, Medicorp 5,8, etc. and M'sia TVI, TV3 etc. This type of transmission technology is more than 50yrs old but a very reliable common service. Those who hv played with pager decoder with computers loved these transmission. The sound:- tutu....pee...uuuuu....palalapalak... tone was my favorite music in the 90s.
FM: Freq modulation (still used) was crystal clear analog voice music transmission, it is used very widely internationally. good clear voice and music in Radios. No more the pilipalak sound of:- see following.
ofcos the older type like LongWave, medium Wave and Short Wave mostly defunct now but still used by amatuers. voice or music hv the pilipalak distortion when lightning or atmospheric disturbances occurred. Those were the days of SW radio listens. It helped many high sea distress recues even with the unstopable distortion. It was a joke about Long wave is short distance, and the short wave is Long distance bouncing off the upper hemisphere which is world distance. These are analog.
All above are just back envelop memories I hv and many finer detail may hv lost in my ageing years. My apology.

Oh dear! So big green is already transmitting wirelessly using N3!
But why? They got a huge network of coaxial cables wired all over sg. Why the need to T2 it? Too many boxes around?

Big Green was the only commercial provider to shop dont or cant hv cable, so Terrestrial. Then they upgrade to N3 but lost right to football sport. They lost lots of clients n money. Now most cofishop use mio via phoneline.
The image are 2 C band dish in Sg location Admiralty x Sembawang along Admiralty. Shots were taken 2 days ago. Satellite viewing is permitted in Sg provided application and Sat-Box is approved by IDA.
I was suggested to send an approved Box for approval, after installation of Dish, then buy chiong box.

There r some hidden Ku-band dish used too. Camouflaged but dare not take foto, afterward charged for invasion of privacy.
At this location, u can see monkeys on roof top too, like guardians of the houses.
