HD is the main selling point for TV providers. Viasat HD was shut down some time ago and a fix hasn't been released publically due to not much interest in their HD offering.

I think a HD fix will come eventually due to the popularity of this package.

I saw that on another forum but to me, it looks very much like the Viasat situation so i still would envisage the SD content to still be widely available long after HD may not be, if that turns out to be the case.

On some boxes the SD looks almost like HD anyway.

Some boxes SD looks poor but some boxes it looks good & people have said to me they can't even notice the difference as they are not used to HD that much.

                    Example...

TM5402 HD has a very good picture on SD channels in my opinion.

So it's not all doom & gloom should the HD content go off.

Hacking an encryption system and CS are not the same thing.
All N3 cards are being shared.

No mention of the Thomson HD boxes on there. I've never let them swap out my Thomson box as I use the component output - I wonder if my HD channels will still work if this is implemented.

indeed, I have one of these aswell.

We need to keep these Thomson's as long as possible.

This maybe what is holding Sky up with their anti c/s measures.

If they write to you asking or advising you that you need to change boxes, just write back...don't ignore as that is a Tacit aggreement where if you don't resond to their letter or offer to change box, silence means you agree, but if you write back & tell them you don't want to change anything, then they can't implement the change unless you agree.

So they key is to write to them stating you are happy as you are & decline their offer...they can't do a thing about it then & if they do, THEY have broken the contract..not you.

They phoned me a couple of Years ago offering a free upgrade, I declined and advised them that I was using the Component and only wanted a box with the component output.

It would make little difference though, I'll bet there's a clause somewhere saying they can terminate the agreement on 30 days notice without reason.

According to the link in post 1 it will be implemented on all HD boxes eventually. The ones that will get it first are the Amstrad DXR890/895.

These models have been issued to customers for the past 3 years up to the present day.
