I just had a look at my sisters legit sub. Always in box. model 895 Rec ID fw. Ent still all may 26th

She has had no contact via sky over new pairing box and is connected to phone line and it clears still in my setup.

she won't need any contact from sky as she already has the Receiver ID, it's the boxes that don't have it they should be contacting people about

& so far, the only people having problems are those who let their entitlements run out & then used a sky box to update them.

That's my point, so why would it still clear. Weird. What would the diff be between ppl updatingng card in box and people who use legit card in box.

probably because your sisters box already had the new software while entitlements were still good, the people with problems had not used their boxes recently & when they did, to update card, then the box also took the software at the same time as they hadn't been used in a while either & both got locked together.

or They may have temporarily stopped the new measures as there has been reports on this thread that official box card readers are burning the cards.

I'll be glad to see CS end for Sky. Like has been said earlier in this thread - The death of the free VM channels has added to this. As well as the Sky like firmware on the VU boxes... I prefer it when the scene is a little bit of a pain in the arse and open to the hobbyist who uses it for himself, not to make a profit.

Some one want to define hobbyist to me ? As far as I see it we are all just as bad. If you share even with one person then your financially gaining from it. The only people who suffer will be the people who genuinely only use card in 3rd party box for own benifit and tes and create images.

So i put my self in that bracket too.

I would agree in principal but it is 0963 & payservers that are bringing all the heat on this hobby. I love my 0963 Sub (but its way overpriced) & I hate the stock box's but I am still in agreement that the only way for CS to continue is for all the payservers to be wiped out... Weather that takes a security update by S*y or for all the mugs that use them to wise up, it has to happen..

It's possible that her receiver just has not undergone this new pairing procedure yet ??, but thats just pure speculation on my part. I do know of one person who got a new receiver and card which is affected by these changes rite out of the gate.

I consider my self a life long hobbyist, Been swinging from satellite dishes since i was 9 years old and now i'm 34. I have had likely in the area of 50 plus receivers in those years along with all manor or setups.

I personally could care less if they closed the loop on CS as i'll just put my card back into my uncle rupie box and use the E2 boxes for FTA, which is what i did for the full first year i had my uno and for the full 9 years i had my DM7020 si. dont get me wrong i would miss not being able to use my card in the receiver of my choice but 28.2 east is not the bee all and end all, there are others out there, and with OnDemand by the OE-Alliance now out i tend to spend most of my time watching contend on 4OD any way ( when i'm not testing one of my 7 boxes that is ).

It wouldn't suprise me one bit, if the Premier League is not behind this.

When you look at their terms to new broadcasters for the latest set of rights which start in August, they have been stipulating to them, all providers must have their
cards & boxes secure & paired to stop or reduce the chances of c/s with their cards.

Sky is no different in that respect to any other provider, & they too will have been told to get a move on.

all we can do is wait and see what happens, could be worse, the aussies lost their channels over a year ago and their third party satellite market pretty much imploded over night, and they still have no channels outside of a official receiver.

as for other satellites, well i have had a motorized setup for over twenty years, it was permanently parked on 30 west for over two of those years so i can live with or without 28.2 east.

I though Viasat already have paired boxes with a 2nd boxkey ? And this is already cracked, although nobody really bothers with it as it only opens HD channels ... the SD channels clear ok with standard hex/dec conversion

I think most people get the True Hobbyist/Enthusiast mixed up with the other general run of people who get a motorised system to watch 3pm football and then have the usual 28.2? east as the main viewing, this is not how the Hobbyist/Enthusiast works at all.

I for one wont be sorry to see it go as i class myself in the true hobbyist part, My dish is used on a regular basis seeking feeds and new transponders on different satellites especially the harder to get ones such as those on the fringe 25.5? east 21.6? east 7.0? west etc.. and also C-Band which probably never gets a look in on most forums as its considered so called 'Niche' but there are loads of Free channels both on KU and C band available with very Large dish setups, Probably only a few members on here have such setups and use them for this purpose.

I do agree that probably most Motorised setups sold in the last few years have been put up with one purpose in mind and that was for the Football and most of these people are part of the Plug & Play brigade like we have now with the Open/Skybox boom. and when it does finally go dark because most do not venture onto the forum to find out exactly what is available for Free/Softcam/Keys etc.. will just let the dish sit there and rust.

If only these people would take an interest in what there equipment is really capable of then they would be very surprised at what is actually out there and not just rely on 28.2? east

And those who say they are life long hobbyists have probably just dipped there toe in the water in the last 15 to 20 years when the Digital Boom took off, A life long Hobbyist/Enthusiast is someone who has long since seen the start and finish of the analogue days and before that was also a keen HAM radio enthusiast.

exactly ( hobbyist ) i myself football is my hobby ,but has been hijacked by tv ,ipay for season ticket fo my local team , i like to watch football ,i dont think you would have many hobbist on here if not for football ( sports )
sorry sat hobbyist but what would most people want to do with your hobby without SPORT
