Am l asking for too much?

I've just changed my contract with my ISP and now have a faster speed and unlimited downloads, my Sly HD box is also starting to misbehave, not recording, recording the wrong stuff, going into standby and l got to thinking what else is out there?
My mate told me about his two Skybox F3/F5, l've studied these and they seem to do what l want, but l'd also like to record while watching another programme, hence would need a box with recording facilities/HDD.
I'd like to use the existing dish with dual LNB.
Is there a box that can do this?
Also, l have a son with autism who likes things to work all the time, plus the girlfriend is blonde!!!!!!;-)

buy an original vu solo2, or vu duo2 , or tm twin - they will do what you ask and allow you to fit an internal hdd

Thanks for the prompt replies, l've not thought of a budget yet, but would like to keep below ?200, although, would l be better off investing more (say up to ?300) now?
Who would be a reputable company/individual to deal with?

If I was you ... don't bother get a new STB if its just to watch sly uk ... the picture will go black very soon for those using unofficial boxes to view sly uk. You will be wasting your money unless its on a motorised dish.

Thanks for the help and advice so far, I sold an old mountain bike today and have an extra ?300 to add to my coffers, I now have up to ?600 in my sweaty, grubby mitt to happily invest in a system, so could anyone suggest an outfit to buy which has a motorised dish (what is the biggest dish I can put up without planning permission?) and has the features I mentioned in my first post?

              Thanks again.

              Alan.

Just my opinion but its sounds to me like you would be better off upgrading you existing kid. With the best will in the world you are never going to get a box will not have any issues its just the nature of the beast with linux box's. I've had loads of orginals box's and they do take messing with to get the best out of them, you say you have a son with autism, what would be the outcome if the box failed to record or even green screened because with a linux box even the best ones I'm sure this is going to happen. Your choice of course, if I have the money the vu+ duo 2 would be my choice.

Is there anyone else on the forum with the same sort of luck as I have, I was woken this morning by my other half telling me, "there's a funny sweet smell like nail varnish remover down stairs", I got out of bed and went down stairs following my nose, I'd had an inkling where the smell was emanating from, this was confirmed by me opening the fridge door, it stunk and inside, it wasn't cold or even cool, so my foray into the satellite world has gone on hold and I've just had to buy a fridge/freezer..
I had to buy a new cooker hob last November, a fridge on christmas eve, a washing machine in May and now a fridge/freezer that I only bought at the end of June............1997!

Is this really true though....??? I have heard this for the last 3 years or so....and yes there are changes and there are issues, but nothing that has really threatened.....

Alhtough I do believe the day will come - just like on cable.... Hopefully not for a few more years..... Is it months,,, Is it years,,, I guess no one knows... And it is each individuals own risk.,.,.,

You are quite correct but dont bury your head in the sand, The new pairing procedure which has been discussed to death on here as well as most other places has started and everyday i see the Numbers dwindling and another Loophole closed at the end of august will mean the numbers will reach significantly higher.

There is also a card Change imminent more likely to start before the end of the year, I think most of the posts made for the OP was to look at a Motorised setup which in the long run will last years compared to months with a fixed dish @ 28.2? east

Bang on the money Digicon, l've been watching satellite tv since Screensport was being broadcast, also, as mentioned earlier, my son has Autism and needs to be challenged mentally, he's only 13 and has been using my computers for almost 10 years, he has his own laptop and maintains it himself, he is very clever and has his own website dedicated to the Simpsons. Ordinary school work is boring to him and he gets very frustrated doing mundane things, l'm thinking normal school doesn't stimulate his mind enough and apart from imaturity, he would make a good teacher and probably knows more than some of them now. He yearns for data and creates list after list of information on anything, he saw the motorised dish moving at a friends house a while ago and took great interest.
Sky tv holds nothing for him now so thats another reason satellite interests us for different reasons.

If you setup a motorised system, he could be challenge learning another language.

I'm becoming more and more confused, my dish fitter tells me that no matter what equipment l get, l won't be able to watch one channel while recording another, l thought that was the idea behind twin tuners and a HD, l'll be cancelling Sly and making use of the FTA channels, can anyone put me in the picture please?
