Not in the least bit interested in the cloud 3, at least until they sort the issue's on the cloud 2.
Without patched firmware like vix, or openhdf, or atv we will be stuck with the pli image.
What happens when pli4 needs a patch??
We will be stuck with boxes that dont update online.......eventually the drivers will be useless.
unless someone with an indepth knowledge of linux and the required code for the proccessor (is realeased by the factory. ) offers regular patched firmware.
The cloud 1 is a clone of a clone....IE its a clone of a ferrari clone, hence we get regular firmware patches.
Without some real input into this matter by the factory i wont be buying anything based on the XP1000, or any other clone without real surport for patched firmware.
BTW the cloud 3 that looks like a cloud 2 is a total fake. Anyone heard of photoshop??Comment

Hello everybody,
I am currently thinking of purchasing this reciever to replace my IPBox 910HD running PGI 1.4. The IPBox is starting to have some issues with freezing etc., and honestly I think it is a bit slow. Hopefully this box with 500 MHz and more memory will be faster. I have also heard that Enigma 2 is generally better than PGI 1.4.
How is this reciever for typical home-use? I don't really have a lot of demands, I only need a single tuner and the option for PVR. Streaming mkv etc. over the local network would be nice but not necessary.
So my question is: Is this the best box out there for around ?70 and is it stable if installed with the correct firmware?
Any input would be great!
Thanks in advance. :-)Comment

Hi all,
Currently using a cloud ibox (vu solo mini). Its been rock solid since the day I bought it however I now looking to but a second box. Do you think I'm better off sticking with the same box again or do you all think the cloud ibox2 is a better option?
Thanks in advanceComment

So guys,
Image was working fine for 3 weeks, now it's just died on me, white screen on bootup...
tried to reflash and it just goes completely wonkey,
when you flash it do your press ch+ or hold ch+?Comment
-
Heres the flash instructions I found:
Flashing the Receiver. Maxdigital XP1000
***8211; Fully power the receiver down via the rocker switch at the rear of the receiver.
***8211; Insert the USB stick containing the image files into the rear USB port on the receiver.
***8211; Power the receiver on from the rear rocker switch
***8211; Wait for both the RED Recording LED and the LED on the front standby button to appear
RED, once you see this you must press the CH+ located behind the flap on the front of the
receiver to initiate the flashing process.
***8211; Wait for the image to flash, during this time the Standby button LED will appear purple to
indicate that the image is being flashed.
***8211; When the flashing process has completed the receiver will automatically reboot.

This is a rather complicated way to access recordings. At the DM800 remote, there was a button "video". You press it and are straight in your recordings. Another problem with media player is, that picture is gone, when you press "pause" button!Comment

Anyone had any issues with their Cloud iBox 2 just crashing? Screen goes black and there is no response by pressing buttons on remote have to turn it off and on via switch at the back. Im running openpli 4.0. Also i have a m8 with same issue there is no pattern to this crashing can be after 5 minutes of turning on or 5 hours
Any one with similar issues or a fix?Last edited by djrikstar; 29 November, 2013, 21:59.Comment

Yes, i have had the same issues today quite a few times. Im using Lombards image that he posted. If i flash the vix image on there seems to be no problems as far as i can tell so far, so it is either an Open Pli software issue i would guess or possibly certain batches of shoddy units with intermittent hardware issues. Also the picture glitches occasionally on HD channels (free ones like BBC ONE HD).
I guess it's very early days for this receiver yet, but like a few people have said, if the chinese manufacturers don't patch other OS's or the groups wont support 'clone' receivers then i guess we will all end up with freesat boxes
.
I did get sucked into buying this because of the claims of VIX etc 'supporting' the unit. I was fully aware that the Ibox 1 was a VU+ clone but as far as i could work out the Ibox II seemed to be decent spec for the money and this thread wasn't started when i bought mine. It was only on plugging it in for the first time it became obvious it was an XP1000 in disguise!
Hopefully due to the low cost this unit will be the new DM800 replacement due to running OE2.0 rather than OE1.6 and patched images will begin to filter through for us all. If not then it serves us right for being tight arses and not paying over ?100 for an 'official' supported sat box.
