hi all

i am a newbie to all this and joined the forum to ask questions about setting up a eurovox but just came across this showtime thread!

we have an apartment in egypt and i pay for a showtime subscription at the moment - it actually really bugs me as you can only buy 6 or 12 months in advance and we are hardly ever there so its just a total waste of money when we arent there! (I have just paid nearly ?200 for 6 months - this is THE single most expensive commodity in Egypt!!!)

So, this thread got me thinking - maybe there is a way I can view the channels in Egypt without the viewing card...? Maybe not but I thouoght it was worth asking the question!!!

I have always wondered about picking up showtime here in UK too but it all sounds very technical!!

It is great though and well worth having for the movies and sports chanels alone!

as mentioned in the previous post showtime are changing encryption.. however, at the moment an Innovative receiver with the right firmware will open up showtime but you would need broadband internet and a router in your apartment in Egypt as the box needs to be connected to the Innovative server via ethernet cable to your router / broadband

you wont really get the best of showtime unless you live in the very south of england (Portsmouth etc) as the signal is weak and you need a massive dish

There is no point even Discussing this anymore ! if was freely available with software for the past year or two and also could be got useing Cardsharing (banned subject on D.K by the way) Showtime are to launch a new receiver called the SuperBox containing anti-piracy and anti-Cardsharing technologue with in the next couple of months....

The only way of watching Showtime / ShowOrbit will be by paying for it once this new service is launched over the next few weeks !

Its nearly the end of Showtime been a free ride ! if you are lucky enough to get it ... continue paying for it if you watch it .....

Alun, do you have any further info on the superbox? If its going to be anti card share, are they going to be going down the road of the card somehow being built into the box? Please forgive my stupidity, i'm sure there is probably a more simple way to stop CS, but surely if the card can be removed, some smart cookie will find a way to share it.

it may well be like the technique JSC are using at the minute.. you need a special fix that i cant talk about here.. also it may use something similar to NDS, lots of rolls to make it jumpy and freeze and unwatchable

Is this a special fix i can do to the DM myself,something thats perhaps I should be googling?

I do not know if any of you read my post on Showtime ! http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...43/#post253212 but there is no point in spending money on a big satellite dish or looking forward to watching much of the EPL on Showtime, not only are they to release a new Receiver with Anti-Piracy technologue but also Anti-Cardsharing Technologue within the next few months they are also to change over to Viaccess immently along with a rebranded name ShowOrbit due within the next Month ....

Showtime is not the answer after Digitv has gone for football if you intend spending money to receive this service ...

CS is a game they wont kill. Lets wait and see if sky uk will manage the feat once they finish their card roll out. Unless if showtime are going to buit the card inside the box, then as long as the card can be removed then it wont be share proof

Yes, it will be interesting to see what this white card is going to do, i'm sure if anybody is going to rob us of our viewing pleasure, its going to be them!

the new JSC cards are anti piracy and a lot of people are finding it difficult to open JSC 1-4.. The middle east broadcasters loose millions of customers due to piracy, they need it sorted way more than sky ever will and so their intention is greater

i think showtime is a little kid on the game. if CS is gona be stopped it will be by the big guns SKY- UK, ITALIA, DEUCHLAND, etc

The dish only cost 99quid and isnt expensive,and the box to
open it 16quid...so i think i,v done ok for the chnls i get,,and the bigger picture is abu dabi tv having the epl rights season after this and their sports chnls are coming in loud and proud..
there is no way theyre gonna show em on hotbird...
My main aim as an enthusiast was the challenge to see if i could get the signals...and i,v achieved this to a certain degree....any weak elusive bird is gonna interest a keen enthusiast
Also a new box and card for everyone in 2 months......

its not just Showtime though is it.. its ART, Showtime & JSC

Thats all the middle east broadcasters together in a fight against anti piracy.. their custom base is way bigger than that of Sky UK, Germany & Italy put together..
