Do you also have an up to date channel list, and satellites.xml file on the box? If they aren't installed or the satellites.xml doesn't correspond to the channel list, then the motor won't move. See if someone has a full working backup image that they can upload for you to try...

Thanks Socktug, always happy to see another idea thrown my way.
Don't think I have either, just got the standard images on it then have set everything else up through the box itself. Thought you started with a fresh image and built the rest up from scanning the transponders. Anyone able to help with this by passing a working image? Promise I won't reveal any embarrassing channel preferences in your listings (Channel 1: The Wedding Channel, Channel 2: Gay Dating, etc).

Did you try your technomate again m8 to see if that turns the motor. If it doesn't turn it now and it was before then it's got to be the motor.

Thanks for the help guys. Sat man came back and said the motor has crashed so reset it. FPMSL! DreamCast..theyre older than me. Some say GotoXX work others say it doesnt on the 500s. Which is it? it dont work on mine.

At many points in the past couple of days I would have gladly exchanged it for a Dreamcast, best console ever, FACT. Anyway I accidentally tried GotoXX on mine when I got home and it worked. Connected it up to see where I was up too last and selected a Sky channel. It then moved itself from 0deg to 28.2deg and locked in no probs.
Checked the settings and it was on GotoXX with Sky scanned on the minidish previously to check it was alive. I have got a feeling that the missing link in the GotoXX situation is programing in the Sats and maybe scanning them before trying letting GotoXX try to do anything. Maybe it needs to know what it is looking for in more detail than the GotoXX software contains, maybe it is a bug.
Tonight or tomorrow I am going to stick the Captains Settings on a fresh PLI image and then try a controlled GotoXX experiment myself.
