Thought would pop my question here away from the openbox (cant see the delete thread option in there) , anyway got the link to the 5.3 image (thx) and put on a usb ready , do i have to take of the grey open atv firmware that came pre installed on the box first ? (star s) cheers ... zgemma noob

Got a bit ahead of myself actually with that , after taking out the sat single wire out of openbox into z , auto search detecting nothing (is set to 28.8) there isnt any signal will try changing f connector , On updating where is the usb option to update

Put the image on on USB drive, stick it in the back usb port, switch box on, box will say boot then USB then if it doesn't go to flash hit hit the power button on front of box, it should now start flashing the image.

Just wont say usb , stick is in back with just 5.3 image on (formated 16gb fat32) , restarted both diff ways standby and power of from plug and back on , still doesnt or say usb can only think the maybe the 5.3 image not compatible with this (Star S) single tuner box

Thats how i did it yeh ,
you know this 5.3 image is that the blue sly skin etc, or just a update of open atv that is already on the box as looking in settings i manged to detect/see 5.3 in a setting folder dont know if its already on, or if that is something else, im trying (goal) is getting it looking like the blue epg style interface skin .. thx for help .. cheers

Finally Got it going after thought i'd bricked the box constant loading on the open atv after doing a factory reset, but getting that sorted then the 5.3 software on straight after cut out a lot of the work that's for sure (Nice one) i set the epg auto bouquet thing to my region but itv is yorkshire anyway of fixing

Gr8 that you've got the box flashed, try this to fix your region;

Menu-setup-service searching-ABM-Providers to the following;
Sky UK Area- Scroll right to get ‘your area’ custom ie mine’s Scottish East Custom

Hi. thx , Two things
will i have to rescan channels now as just set it to merseyside custom area then restarted box but still same Yorkshire when checked on the quick remote pull down , Also i noticed when i press epg to see the full screen epg as in choosing bouquet or section i.e entertainment , it was pretty much blank only had one or two stations max that had any epg in atall ..(epg is set to usb dongle at front panel) i was even up at 4.30 am when it updated the light on it was flashing

i did fully power down the box from wall 10 minutes or so after that had completed dont know if thats affected the epg as did seem fine till starting back up this morning

Yes, once you've set it to 'Merseyside' custom then click Menu-setup-service searching- ABM-Start Scan this should get rid of your yorkshire channels

You need to follow the instructions in post #1 to correctly setup your EPG ie both CrossEPG and the main EPG

Sorted back on , leave box in standby and all should be good On openbox any channel could change frequency and go of at any given time (NooOO) , When that happens on these is there a different way of getting them back on or is a re scan needed ?

If you leave the box in standby at night the Zgemma will auto scan for channel feq changes at 04:00 and auto download new epg data at 04:30, so much better than an openbox

Or you can setup a power timer to put the box into standby for you at your desired time for the update, that's the way my H.2H is setup... autobouquet scan at 03.00am then powertimer into standby at 03.15 for 5 mintue EPG refresh scan for Vrigin Media and wakeup again at 03.30 for EPG-Importer scan for SKY.
