Best Twin Box (2016) with Satellite And Cable and Recorder

Guys sorry for a noob question but I've been out of touch with technology for some time.
I am currently using Kryptview A780 for cable and Technomate 5402 HD for Satellite. I am now thinking to upgrade them and ideally looking for a box with following features:

    1) Box that can combine Cable And Satellite so I don't have to use 2 separate boxes (If such a box available)
    2) Box with HD features
    3) Box that supports record and playback for example box that can record one feed and play another or may be record more than one channel at a time. ( I can add HDD)
    4) Box that doesn't freezes much and has vs support.
    5) Budget is up to ?300-?350

    I really appreciate your help

Try looking at vu duo 2 with twin sat and twin cable tuners [pluggable not fixed] excellent support for vu that will get you started. Have a good read up on E2 boxes as well.

      1. Lots of Enigma2 boxes are combos ie have 1x satellite tuner and 1x cable tuner
      2. All modern Enigma2 boxes are HD capable, but not many HD channels left on satellite but loads on cable.
      3. Combo boxes do this quite easily, even better if you get a triple tuner box
      4. The budget you've stated rules out lower end Zgemma boxes which can stutter going thru the menus, if your on about freezing/glitching programs then this isn't down to the box
      5. For that price I would look at a Gigablue HD Ultra UE Triple tuner 1x satellite 2x cable with the ability of adding an internal hard drive

      Code:

What is the advantage of having 2 x Cable and 2 x Satellite Tuner over 1 x Cable and 1 x Satellite Tuner? Are all the above boxes capable of programing and handling different cams?

To watch one channel & record another you need a tuner for each, so if you have a 2x cable you can record/watch/stream 2x HD programs on cable, where as if you only had 1x sat 1x cable tuners you could be limited to 1x HD channel and 1x SD channel.

Yes, but please remember cam talk is against forum rules

Thanks Martin so ideally I should be looking at atleast Triple Tuner or more to be able to watch and record programs simultaneously? Also does it matter if recording is PVR or DVR or they both the same?

I personally would get a triple tuner ie 2x cable 1x sat due to the reasons fevgatos says, if sat does die then atleast you will have dual cable tuners to record&watch. As to the pvr/dvr you can setup an enigma2 box to record to either its internal hard drive or external USB giving you portability if required.

Sorry guys I know its been a while this thread has been running. I wanted to know few more things if someone can help. Is there any Quad Tuner boxes available incase? Based on earlier comments my understanding of Quad Tuner is that It would allow me to watch either Cable or Satellite and record 2 channels at the same time (1 Cable, 1 Satellite)

Yep plenty quad tuners. Gigablue quad plus, extend et10000 and vu duo 2 to name a few.

Vu+ Duo2 description says it is a twin tuner (NOT QUAD). But it also says record upto 16 channels simultaneously? Need a receiver that can play Cable and Satellite and record Channels (ideally upto 3 or more) while watching others (If it is a possiblity)

Each twin tuner has 2 feeds so you have 2 cable and 2 sat meaning you can record 3 channels and watch a forth or 4 sat, 4 cable whatever configuration you decide to buy

So in order to watch one channel and record 3 more I will have to buy Vu+ Duo2 and add another twin tuner to it or standard out of the box will play one channel and record 3 more?
