installing motorised system

im having the exact same prob...only thing with tinkering i got my SNR TO 68-80% but just wont lock!!!!! ive spent the entire weekend...and im only locking on astra 19.2E

At least your locking on something Mate , Well Done ! , my first sat reciever was an old Technomate TM1000 CI , i bought off ebay for ?18 , i just plugged that into my old sky dish and bingo! , instant Astra sat channels .
Can't get bugger all with this one yet !

Thanks for that again Mate , i've just been on dishpointer.com and the direction line at 1w looks identical to the direction i have it pointing now ? . Two other bits of info on this site in the dish set-up data show , elevation 29 degrees and LNB skew -1.3 degree , but i don't know what this means in relation to my present 53.4 degree latitude setting on my dish , as per Krazylegs tutorial ? , maybe i'm just running before i can walk !

forget the skew for now, just lign the lnb up straight as you can by eye. set your motor lat/elevation at 53 degrees if thats what it is on dishpointer.com and leave it, that wont need touched again. some scales on dishes apparently are'nt accurate i think the dish should be more or less vertical when set at due south 1w. my lat on the motor was 54, as for the lat on the dish i got a picture on lat set at 27degrees and after id ajusted it to peak the signal it was near enough 30.

point it to the line as per dishpointer and set the dish lat at say 27 the dish should be more or less straight, move the dish/motor slightly left/right till you get a picture on bbc world 1w. also the dish needs to be dead centre on the motor arm and when it tightrn the nuts evenly and that also will not need touched again, any left right movement is done by moving the whole dish motor assembely round on the scaff pole. if you cant get a picture change the lat on the dish slightly then move left right again.

It's been elevated up and down like a guided missile for most of the afternoon Mate , twiddled side to side , raised up and down , but couldn't get the SNR off 63% ? . It's got to be something simple , but sadly , so am i !

you say you were on 0.8w, can you not select 1w in the channels?, as you need to snd the motor to that to allign it.

FINALLY!!!!....I EDITED THE TRANSPONDER FRON .8 TO 1 THEN TO.9W I JUS DID A SCAN AND GOT 496 SERVICES ON THOR...I STILL THIK MY ARC IS OUT COS I CANT LOCK ON OTHERS USING USAL...BUT ILL SORT THAT OUT LATER ON IN THE WEEK....

Thor (0.9W) in the list Mate , but if i zero the motor then try to drive to it , it just displays " positioning to Thor (0.9W) , please wait... and wait ....and wait ! . is this due to the motor not knowing where it is , not having locked onto anything yet , or does it need physically " zeroing " on the motors push buttons ?

ed you need to enable 1w in the sat settings first, what channel list u using?

and no, mines only been up a month and i didnt have a clue!, and have since changed the motor as the first one broke!
