installing motorised system

I've connected the dreabox to an ethernet cable from my router and powered up Mate , but stuck from where to go from there ! . I don't know if there's even an image on it ! .
If i go " file mode " i can only open , plug-ins (blue button) , then select dream data and there are no services available. If i select "info" , in the main menu , nothing available in stream info ,nor much else wherever i look i'm lost ! . Think i'd best go for some pub therapy

without knowing which image is on your box, i cant say much, there should be a downloads or addons section. you relay need nabilo darkstar on then i could guide you through it as im quite familiar with that one.

the image on your box may be corrupt now with the dreamup problems you had earlyer. have you tried the latest version of dreamup, works on vista as well as xp.

Hi Mate ( you're also are like a dog with a bone! ) , i'm already using the dreamup version above , it connects instantly , but whatever image i try to flash , flags up "aborted by user , exiting " about 15 seconds after i start the flash , i can get no further ! .
I'm looking at asking the supplier to replace the box , but don't want to do that if there's nothing wrong with this one and i end up wasting ,his , your and my time !
Just one question ? , when you unzip the nabilo image file and click on it's unzipped folder , do you get the winzip file logo inside it ?
as that's what i get and am trying to flash to the dreambox .

the probable reason you get a winzip file when you extract it is that you have associated that type of image with winzip on your pc.So i don't think that's your problem
What i would try is if you can find a old pc with a serial port (rs232) socket on the back i use one with win98 on it and try to flash it that way using dreamup

I have a Dreambox 500s and a motorised satellite dish, can I change the satelites only through the Dreambox remote contorle?

Tried it Mate , same result exactly , flash fails after about 15-20 seconds "aborted by user displays " .

it sound like your boot loader is cream cracked it may be a j tag to get it going so it would go back to the suppler if it was me
which image are trying to load?
It is a enigma1 image nabilosat is very good

Agreed Firestorm, if you have flashed 5 cable boxes and it was ok i think you need to send it back ed, if its ok im sure they will tell you so.

I'm arranging to return the dreambox to the supplier who says he'll replace it no trouble , but doesn't think thats were the problem lies , thanks for all your help Mates , i very much appreciate your time and trouble . I'll keep you posted when i get my replacement / resolution .

Tbh, most are ok but you will find out when you return it, best of luck and giz a shout when you get it back, we will get you going!

Hi everyone , just a note to say i've not topped myself or given up on the sat set-up .
In fact , i now have nabilosat image on , a decent channel list loaded and yesterday , after 2-3hrs tinkering with both latitude and longditude settings , i actually got a signal lock at approx 1 degree west (snr 85% agc 95%) and can watch bbc world news ! . Problem i've got now is , beyond 19.2 east , i cant pick anything up ( hotbird 13 east and 19.2 east , lock and view ) , nor can i pick anything up driving the dish west .
Anyone guide me as to what might need looking at ? , or can anyone recommend an installer in the widnes , cheshire area
who won't rip me off and can fine tune it for me ?

wow, your almost there, great when you get the picture init?, did they change the box?. my money is on the pole not plumb, also the pole motor and dish must be in a perfectly straight line with each other. have another mess about and get the strongest sig in bbc world 1w with left and right movement on the dish, then ajust the lat on the dish (NOT THE MOTOR).

Hi again Mate , what you've just said has hit the nail on the head ! , the pole's totally 100% and the dreambox was Ok after all, (just me useless !) , but i altered the longditude from the original 54 degrees to 38 degrees , then adjusted the dish bracket to get a signal as i couldn't alter the dish bracket far enough up , to get a signal .
I now realise this was stupid and won't give me the correct arc when sat searching , but at least it's proven it all works !
So on my next spare time slot , i'll reset the motor to it's original 54 degrees and if i have to rebulid / modify the dish bracket to give me what i want , i'll do so.

The one slight prob is it lives 2mtrs above my bungalow , so down she comes again , Ta for the encouragement mate!
