Hi Guys,

I am some what confused, and need a yes or no answer, so if you can please reply.

I have a motorised dish system and get all FTA channels on all satellites.
I am going to buy a spiderbox 5000 with gift so i can view scrambled channels, but only if easy to install.

So if i buy Spiderbox & plug it in, tune in all the satellites and get all the FTA channels first like i have now.
Then i connect spiderbox to my router will i be able to view scrambled channels? or is it more complicated than that.

Sorry for sounding so dumb, but i am not very good with gadgets and would be wasting my money to buy a spiderbox in first place.

Yes or No answers would really help guys

YES!!!, i have just installed my 9000hd last night and it took me about 2 hours to patch it and scan the sats from 36e to 30w using disecq 1.2 and i found it very easy. if you use a channel list and usals it shouldnt take you to long. there is plenty info/help available m8. regards mdt

As above but also consider paying the extra and going for the 7000 as you are getting HD of course so more future proof plus the support as regards releases for new patches seems to be more geared up for the 7000 and 9000 HD receivers, with the 5000 SD following a while afterwards.

But i am a real beginner so have a few more questions
Must the spiderbox be connected to a pc in order to operate? and if so with a lead or by wireless to router?

Does the spider box gift work on all satellites like hotbird, Hispasat & thor etc or just one satellite?

I have a motorised dish which is set up fine & a technomate receiver is it difficult to change over receiver and tune it all in?

I tried the forum but could not find the answers.

Sorry for sounding like a dick asking all the questions, and i really appreciate your help guys.

What is a patch?

Like if you say you patch your receiver, what does this mean?

It means loading some firmware/software on that will allow you to do a few extra things than the standard software will, ie you patch the existing software. Loading the patch on on a Spiderbox could not be easier, get yourself a USB stick, download the patch, transfer the patch file to USB stick then plug the USB stick into the Spiderbox, then through the onscreen menu you can select the file and apply it, the Spiderbox will then do the rest, it takes approx 30 seconds to apply then the receiver reboots itself, and that's it! Some times you maybe also need to perform a factory reset, sometimes not, this again is very easy to do via the Spiderbox menu. For ease of use they don't get much easier than a Spiderbox!

You did? Not from us I don't think.... Anyway not to worry, yes the Spiderbox forum is the best place to get latest patches and updates, plus some info on how to apply them, there there are one or two other forums that are starting to support them now.

I have updated the box with Spiderbox-DarkmanPatch Service+_2.13_SPI. Butis still does ot work. The channels are still srcambled. I also get THor 2,3. By the way I am in African, Does that matter. Can someone pls help As I have very at this.

Do you have your box connected to the internet? And how fast is your internet.?
