          F5 recovery

After trying many times to recover a dead F5 and spending hours on this excellent Forum I read somewhere from a member of Digital Kaos who I will always be in his debt and I'm very sorry I don't who that member was but many thanks.
I was directed to this site and at my first attempt with their software problem sorted.

The 15 pin connector on your laptop is a monitor connector, not an RS232 serial connector.

Do you, or any of your mates have an older pc/laptop with a dedicated serial (9 pin) connector?

Other than it having to be a RS232 Null Modem cable, are there any other specifics such as it having to be 9 pin?

Knew it wouldn't be long until I had to ask for help.

                          So I have got to

                          3. Run EromUpgrade.exe then check the
                          com port setting is correct

What Port do I need? Currently it is set on COM 1
                          Bits Rate: 115200
                          Parity: Even
                          Operation mode: Upgrade

                          This all correct?

Openbox s12 stuck on red light, I have tried all loaders and no luck. The ALI loader says receiving chunk and then times out. With the other loaders it connect some times with 'stb memory error' but that is only if I remove the rs232 connnection and replug, It never connects when I switch box off/on. Could it be hardware issue?
