How does he know that the dish is OK? Has he tried a different box with the dish to verify that it works?

He hasn't accidentally put the LNB cable in the LOOP connector has he? It's easy to do.

Prior to going away on holiday everything was fine with my f5. Got back Wednesday to no signal and invalid program signs. Signal strength and quality are 45 and 10 percent respectively. Done all the checks, rebooting etc and used box downstairs with sky cables but to no avail. Do I need a new box? Any input much appreciated

Hi Have you checked that LNB cables are working or connected properly. Your signal strength is very low which points to LNB/cable or alignment isuues. Also what satellite and channels are we talking about???

          Regards

Thanks for your reply. All channels are down mate. The cables work for my sky box and I tried the f5 with these downstairs but still nothing. As far as I'm aware nothing untoward happened when I was away to alter dish alignment. Would that be hard to change if it was the cause?

Hi. if all channels are down then its not your channel list as very unlikely all channels would have changed frequencies. If your Sky box is connected to same cables and dish and is working then its not the alignment. Its pointless moving the dish if its working on the Sky box. You need to try the working LNB cable from Sky box to back of your F5 LNB Input connection. To be honest if cable works on Sky box it should work on your F5 unless there is a fault with F5.

                Regards.

Thanks for your help mate. I tried the working lab cable into my f5 but it did nothing. What does trying a new channel list entail?

Hi. A new channel list basically means that the file will overwrite your current channels and insert the list of channels which have been copied from another receiver. Have you tried doing a blind scan and see how many channels it finds??? If the blind scan does not find any channels then you have a problem. Regards

I tried the blind scan and actually got some channels that work! The signal is interrupted so distorts picture a bit though. During the scan there were quite a few failed channels though

Hi. The picture distortion could mean that dish or LNB may need tweaking slightly. As for the blind scan i would delete all the TP's(frequecies) and then try the blind scan again and see if you get failed channels. Not sure but i think the failed message is because the TP already exists so if you delete them all and blind scan again it may work.

                        Regards

Hi Its pretty straightforward but why do you need to re-flash in your opinion. If the receiver was working before you went on holidays why does it not work now??. If possible try and put it on a channel where picture is breaking up and then put a finger on your dish and push it down or up slowly and see if picture improves. If it does then you will need to adjust dish up or down accordingly. If it does not improve you may need to move dish slightly left or right to improve picture or adjust LNB setting.
May i ask where you live.

I live in Dunfermline,Scotland. Trying to touch the dish may be problematic but I'll see what I can do. Will altering lnb settings be complicated? Appreciate you taking time to help
