My gf doesnt like leaving any electricals on over night. So im wondering what is best to keep my channel list and EPG upto date and refreshed

Most backup images have the EPG and Channel list updates done over night, but you can change this to update during the day, go into your setting and find your relevant plugin and change the update time to a time to suit yourself. -
I see, so pick a time the box is most likely to be on? So if the box isnt on will it just miss the update for that dayComment

Yes, and as most EPG plugins download 6-7 days worth of data, your quite safe to miss the odd day. Channel update scans are not as important and can be turned off if required, I personnel have mine set to off and only rescan when channel frequencies change ie I lose a channel.Comment

One more question does the EPG update in the background? As ive set mine to update at 8pm. So will what im watching go off and it starts downloading or whatever?Comment

Depends on what epg plugin, version and firmware you're using, but with most, if the eg plugin starts downloading it can be cancelled by pressing the 'exit' button.Comment

Then if your running the latest crossepg it should stay on the channel been viewed and you get the download box as it updates, only the older version which is required for openav will change the channel to the download radio channel.Comment

Wrong settings, find Crossepg in menu-setup then configure, then change scheduled download at to your new timeComment
