Dreambox streaming to internet,it was never easy like this

well a big thank you to mfaraj57 and all who have posted here i am up and running streaming with this great bit of software.took a bit of time searching through all the posts but found all the info here.it works really well and is well worth persevering till you get it right.and i am a complete novice so if i can do it anyone can.cheers

Continous buffering problem

Have managed to get Tunisia web receiver version 5.0.2 partly working from my office while streaming from home via web streamer/player version 6.0.0f.

I have two problems:-

1/ web receiver keeps on buffering very frequently. It starts buffering unti it reaches 60 % buffering then it works for a couple of seconds then it starts buffering again until it reaches 50 % and then it works for 2-3 seconds, then starts buffering again and so on> This makes watching from office nearly imposibile. Please help.

2/ There is no voice or sound in office end.

At home I have vlc .99 installed.

At home A have 2 mega adsl speed ,while in office I have 1 meg adsl speed.

3/ 1234 +5678 TCP ports are opened at home computer

4/ 1234 +5678 TCP ports are opened at office computer.

5/ dyndns address is updated at home.

6/ Web receiver setting in office is:-

A/ Server DNS address :dyndns address same as that of home computer

B/ Server streaming port : 1234

C/ Dreambox port : 80

Kindly urgently help me with this great application

I would imagine the buffering is caused by a poor upload speed.

Hi Nabat
be sure that the problem is not systemic as example from sound card or drivers or others
test windows media player with and sound file
if sound coming from wmp then try to install ac3filter(google)
if this doesnot fix the problem then reinstall the program codec by installing the new version of the program present in the link in the first post in this subject 6.0.1
if this doesnot fix the probelm the issue mostly from the image in the dream doesnot streaming sound flashing the dream with new version pli image will fix the probelm

you can measure it at speedtest.net
according your upload speed choose appropriate option from settings
if you do not mind post private message with your dns address to test(this is for your and i respect your decision if you will not send)

according to your reading seem to have 2 mb internet speed,and low actual upload speed around 100 kb/s
this is lowe speed and you should try low upload speed profile

Couple of quick things.


1st, whats a decent upload speed to achieve good results when streaming online and to JustinTV, i have both running but the results are poor.

2nd, when setting the timer, is there was to set the channel you wish to record rather than set the timer with the channel running?

I can record and i know ti changes to the channel when the timer starts, but couldnt see a way to just select a channel to record.

I have finally succeeded to get the receiver 5.02 working after I applied the low upload speed profile.

The quality of the image on the receiving end is off course not the best but what shall we do -- its better than nothing.


Its a pity that in spite of having a 2 mega speed adsl line I have
less than 200 kilo bit/sec actual rate of upload. There is nothing I can do about it. Will try to read how to improve pc upload rate.Any ideas?

I have two questions for you please:

1/ What are the best "Advance" settings for Low speed upload profile I.e :

Encpsulation
vcodec
vbitrate
vscale
acodec
abitrate
ascale

2/ Which player/streamer version do you recommend to be used with receiver version 5.0.2. Is it Tunisia-sat Dreambox player and web streamer6.0.0F or Tunisia-sat Dreambox player and web streamer6.0.1 and why.

vcodec wmv2
this same as preset low adsl low profile
even with this low speed you can stream radio channels efficiently,you can ask your internet provider to increase upload speed
