Dreambox streaming to internet,it was never easy like this

codec constitutes of the streaming parameters you have chosen for stream ,by other way streaming needs to be compressed and transcoded to be handled by internet route so you should decide what is appropriate for your internet speed
from program settings you have three presets values for codec according to internet upload speed you have low,medium and high and further more you have advanced which you can go more depth in details but you should have minimal knowledge how to combine different parameters

stopping of the streaming after few seconds could be issue for dream image,dreambox connection to router(wired or wireless) or improper codec(choose one from presets values-start by low )
could upgrading your vlc version more than .99 solve the problem if your windows language is English

My windows is in spanish... I updated the vlc version and now I can see nothing at all, not even the 10 seconds.

Where can I select the codecs? I cannot see that... I can only change the upload speed...

besides internet speed options the last one is advanced you can play with settings their and see
i do not expect streaming with vlc more than .99 with spanish language

with vlc 0.99 I can see like 10 seconds, with the latest version of vlc I see nothing at all.

I am using nabilosat image.

Hi I'm using Tunisia-sat dreambox player&web streamer to stream my DM500 to Internet. The problem is that I can't get good pictures. When I'm watching my DB it's ok, but when I try to stream picture gets totally bad. You cannot even understand what kind of sport is going

Maybe the problem is codec, so please advise me which one to use. Thanks in advance.

You are right the program and other similar programs depend on vlc, will not work with vlc vesion more than 1.0.5(and this is due to security reasons from vlc team-which i do not understand)

Bad quality restreaming has many causes
image in dream(best pli worst gemini)
lan connection method(best wired worst wireless)
pc performance
internet upload speed
streaming codec parameters(you can choose one form three presets value-low is bad and best is high but need internet upload speed over 400kb/s)

I have Gemini, but the rest is OK. I use LAN, PC is good, upload speed is 1mb.

I find your idea very good.
I have been previously streaming from my dreambox 800 using a painful method by finding each programs address and the putting it into vlc.
It is working fine with the latest VLC version.
I was checking many codecs and bandwidths and I find the following setting the best.
If you check dvbdream PC Sat software it is using this option as well.

http://192.168.2.110:8001/1:0:1:2B5D...:820000:0:0:0: --sout=#transcode{vcodec=h264,vb=600,scale=0.75,acod ec=mp3,ab=64,channels=1}:duplicate{dst=std{access= http,mux=ts,dst=:8085}}

Is there any way to put this streaming setting into your software in order to get the stream and quality I want?

I first installed 0.99 VLC but it crashed with the settings i posted.

When I reinstalled the latest VLC the streaming started working fine - but now I can't see the option to use VLC streaming in your software.

PS. also HD playing is working better with the latest versions.

I would really like to help if I can in some way.

best vcodec for streaming is h264 and this vcodec make vlc .99 carshes but can be used with later versions
program uses vlc version up to 1.0.5 and does not work with latest version

stream by external vlc player only appear only when vlc .99 installed
i will start testing your suggested codec and i will put it in my software in next release .

Hello mfaraj,
thank you for your application, it works great but I have some probelms.
I'm using dm500s wth edg-nemesis 4.4, vlc 0.9.9. on win7
The streaming to pc is perfect but sometimes I do not get the channels list (resolved by closing and reopening application) but the major problem is when I zap to another prograam and then reselect the previous program there is no audio at all, the picture is ok, but the only way to resolve this is to reboot the box.
Any suggestion what it could be?
