they might be having a clampdown i.e dream working alongside customs. Somethin like Deckers (UGG) have been doing with customs to crackdown on counterfeit UGGS coming into the UK.On the likes of DH gate if your goods get confiscated then under their terms and conditions its up to the seller to reimburse the buyer.

The funny thing about all this is that the so called clones are manufactured from original specs by Dream. Dream used to get there boxes from a particular far East manufacturer who sold the schematics etc to recover money that Dream owed them.

The true clones are actually manufactured from the original specs and are, to all intents and purposes, identical to the originals (obviously different Macs but otherwise identical).

'Other' clones (which tend to be stupidly cheap) have been cost engineered from the original spec and use some inferior components (mostly in power supplies) but the chipset is still identical to the original. Even with these cheap clones you shouldn't really notice and degradation in picture quality. What you may notice is a 'cheap' enclosure and a tendancy for the boxes to have high infant mortality (again, lots of psu problems) mainly due to capacitor problems.

Strangely, even with the really cheap clones pcb build quality is quite high. Thats a consequence of automated pcb construction - its actually quite hard to make a 'shoddy' pcb when everything is done by a machine !

it is getting difficult to get conterfiet goods into the UK

i should have recieved some dm500s from hk today.
dhl is courier. I fear that load is lost. I would advise to look at either the circuit board or an unbranded box with the same guts, instead of these forgeries

Could be worse, you could have received the letter asking for permission to destroy the box otherwise Dream Multimedia would take you to court.

well the simple way to get round this little hiccup is (the manufacturer in hk/china) not to use use dream multi media,s name on the box.. just rename it dreem boox . no copyright infringement then... simples

spoke to my supplier regarding this matter and my concerns about using DHL for future deliveries and was told rather than using UPS which is more expensive I could use a service called EUEXP a delivery service which runs between China and UK also after doing research in to them there are less chances of being hut by VAT.

Also was adviced that delivery would be around 5 days, I find it to be the same as DHL as most of my deliveries end up getting stopped and taxed.

Until they examine the bootloader and discover it belongs to Dream Multimedia - oops!
