Struggling to find a Wireless Dongle that Works with DM800HD (Rev M)

    Hi,

As per the topic, I have been trying now (unsuccessfully) for the past couple of weeks to get my DM800HD (Rev M Tuner) to recognise a USB Dongle so I can connect via WiFi (which has now become a necessity for us).

I have tried 4 or 5 different dongles I have in the house and none of them seem to work (they don't light up and I don not see a Wireless section anywhere within the Network setting ?).

I bought a TP-Link TL-WN321G 54Mbps 11g Wireless LAN Adapter as it was in the list of working Dongles and it has turned up today. I have plugged it in and instantly the light comes on (which is more than any of the others I have tried). But still no WLAN section within the Network menu. Am I looking in the right place?

I have searched and read up as much as I can prior to posting. One of the earlier posts mentioned problems with the Rev 4 Dongle (which I think this is due to the V4 at the end of the name on the underside of the Dongle).

Is this still the case that I cannot get this dongle to work and if so, can anyone direct me to a link with a definite working dongle has I am being driven round the bend with this

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INFO

Vonets VAP 11G works for some and is a doddle to setup, I had some issues with distance and have gone on to homeplugs now and they truely work great.

With an ethernet cable attached , just select "dhcp" from the network tab ,

regarding working dongles , you can download extra wireless drivers from tspanel (obviously you need to be online to do it tho)

When you say select DHCP. Do you mean from the Network > Use DHCP (yes / no)?

As this was already set to yes.

I am hard wired connected at home, but I need to sort the WiFi option to use it via my iPhone (MiFi) whilst away in the CamperVan.

Any help GREATFULLY appreciated as I'm struggling.

(I have never used TSPanel, but will look into it now, thanks).

              Hi,

              Thanks for that info.

Am I right in thinking I won't see any WiFi option within the Network setting until I find a working Dongle?

Or could my image be corrupt in some way (should the WiFi option be there regardless of a functional Dongle?).

              Thanks again for the help.

Any wireless dongle from this list should work , provided you have downloaded the correct drivers (tspanel or other download panel)

                      Hi,

Its a wireless dongle to allow me to connect via WiFi (no other options).

I did buy one from the list, a TP-Link TL-WN321G, but it is v4 which apparently doesn't work.

I have now bought another one that I am awaiting delivery of.

I think part of my problem is that I don't know if the Wireless Plug is installed, and I have never use TSpanel. I am just about to have a play now to familiarise myself with it.

                      THANKS FOR THE CONTINUED HELP

EDIT: I have installed TSPanel. Gone to addons > Sims2 > Drivers Extras > and installed the WLAN RT73 driver, but I still get no mention of WiFi anywhere either with the WN321G or without it.

                            Hi Lombard,

                            THANKS for the replies.

I have ordered another but I will be lost if that one doesn't work. As you say if you know yours works then I should definitely be able to sort it out.

If you let me know how much you want for it and how you`d want paying that would be grand. THANKS

(Hi Daithi, with regards to 3g router and dongle - I have this set up working, but the problem is I need to pay for the 3g part, whereas it is free on my iPhone so I don't see the point in paying twice if I can help it)
