Just to let you guys know, atleast 2 of the chinese suppliers are sending out DM800's with new tuners named Rev.L3. According to one guy it completly fixes his HD channel problem that alot of people are experiencing with Rev.K and J

This is all he has said at the minute as he is too busy, but another poster (who got sent rev. l3 from the second supplier) took pictures of his new tuner rev. l3 and uploaded them to the site.

So if your having problems with the HD channels contact your supplier and get onto them about it.

Fortunately I haven't purchased one yet as I heard about the problems the clones were having. But if all turns out well I'll be purchasing one of these babies and getting on the band wagon with you lot
                ----------------------------------------------------------
I wrote this on another forum about a month ago. From reading everyones reviews about the new tuner on another different forum I bit the bullet and ordered. I waited ages because they were awaiting new stock but finally received it saturday just gone.

Opened it up, it has the L3 revision tuner.. hooked the box up and flicked to the Sky Sports 1 HD, Discovery HD and the other usual glitching suspects and STILL had problems glitching/freezing.

I'm awaiting an inline-amp (some people still needed this installed on there line, even with l3) to try to see if it rectifies my problem.

I'll report the results as soon as I can as there seems to be a lack of people reporting about there experiences with the new l3 revision.

Oh and one more point to add, your picture contains a 600uF capacitor and mine has a 1000uF fitted. I'm not sure what difference this makes to everyone else but in my casse it has done sod all!!

                Cheers.

The pic was one i found in your thread to show there is a L3 revison, my dm800hd is working fine for me no glitching etc i do notice the snr is about 66% on discovery hd but it runs fine

Follow up to this i just pluged in my old redundent sky mini dish, i then noticed what you are expericeing my snr on discovery hd dropped to 59% witch gave glitching.. i then tested other channels using mini dish..

                    using mini dish

low snr ate on following channels
                    discovery hd
                    disney cinemaic hd
                    scfi hd

these gave me glitching as i was getting low snr rate.. witch out of all the many HD channels who cares is suppose but if your like me things have to be perfect so glad i have a big dish..

every other hd channel run fine using mini dish no glitching at all..

i then polugged my big dish back in witch is 80cm with tripple lnb... all channels perfect no glitches at all...

so your option for in line amplifer i reckon is the right path for you my friend hope my little test gives you an idea

                      Cheers for the reply m8.

If the inline amp doesn't work, I'm going to try a zone 2 dish (can get em free so no loss) and install that.

                      Fingers crossed.

put it this way 80cm dish it runs perfect SNR on discovery HD is approx 66% but glitch free.... Im thinking of ordering a inline amp as you say just tp test on my mini dish myself to see if these inline amps ups the SNR rate you will be sorted guarentted

Someone suggested 'it may be worth trying it without the amp m8, as its is possible to saturate a tuner with too much signal, which can be as bad as not enough signal' He's a well known sat poster on another forum too!!

I've also read about a telnet command which appeared on an older post. This setting was suggested when the Rev.K/J tuners were floating about and I'm wondering whether it would be worth trying with the new L3 tuner.

Something along the lines of - echo 2 > /proc/stb/frontend/0/tone_amplitude command

I havent got time to look into it tonight as it's too late, but if someones in the same boat and has time it might be worth it... let us know the results too

@bubbles69 - What is the recomended SNR and quality for HD channels - my box isn't on right now but I remember SS1HD glitching (slightly) with a steady 70%??

                          Cheers.

Ah do you not have the new L3 tuner like me?

mine are perfect at aorund 62% and 66% onwards using a sky mini dish,

affected channels using mini dish with L3 tuner i notice are

                            sci fi hd
                            disney cinema hd
                            discovery hd
and a a tiny bit on sky sports 1 hd...

but with my big dish they all are perfect with roughly same SNR but more around 66% to 71%

as im testing this to try help others i just ordered 20db amp just to see if any differnce as i know its a signal level issue due to me have astrong signal from my big dish

actually correct above with clone on my big dish on discovery hd no glitching at all perfect running and snr flucualtes between 75% and 79% i recently fitted a new 0.1db icecrypt hd ready lnb to that dish 4 weeks ago... maybe we all may blame tuners, maybe its conflit between lnb and tuner...
